Where I live the HIS Excalibur 9200 Vivo isn't available, only the HIS
Excalibur 9200 SE which is much slower. There is a Sapphire Radeon 9600
SE and the Sapphire Radeon 9600 which is 1.5 as expensive but I have no
information about them.

I currently don't have the time to care much for a good policy (see
"http://wyodesktop.sourceforge.net"). I'd really like to finally delve
into the kbuild facility of the 2.6 kernels and document it here, so
everybody can try out new framebuffer drivers or build the DirectFB
fusion driver. But as long as my problem persist I can't switch to the
2.6 kernel. Of course a patch which solves my problems would be much better.

A really simple workaround, which works with any framebuffer, is to put
a "/usr/sbin/fbset -a 1280x1024-60" into your "/etc/profile". Before I
switched to DVI cable I had this for years with at least 3 different
graphic cards, of course first only with "800x600".
