I tried the Debian/Sarge kernel, currently 2.6.8, I guess it still use
the old driver. I switched back to 2.4.26 where it worked correct.

Fine, I'd prefer I to stick with an ordniary Debian package but I may
try to build the new driver since I know now it's working.

DirectFB is another story, luckally I'm not in a hurry. As far as I know
it worked a little bit with 2.4.24 when I tried my check app (see
"http://wyodesktop.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=checkapp.html"), at
leased it showed some colours.
