Where to get Information about Framebuffer drivers

Hi all,

I am trying to understand frame buffer driver for Linux. Where can I get
information about starting it. Also How frame buffer console is
structured and works. Is there any book available for the same.
Also I am new to VGA Controllers. Where can I get information about the
terminologies used like pallete, pan, etc.
