As an aside it's interesting to note that while googling I found practically no information regarding switching fonts at boot time (a feature that looks at least marginally useful) and yet at the same time and though I was not looking for any information on the subject, I ran into many rather well-written and well-documented articles, mini-howtos, etc. that explained how you could set up your kernel to display a "bootsplash" screen instead of your boot messages.
