In the current release of the client (the client is now released separately from the samba suite, but the two aren't in sync yet) the setuid functionality is deprecated (but can still be enabled at compile time). At the moment the option is being called 'legacy'; I don't know if the functionality is being dropped or upgraded/redesigned, though. -- Peace and Blessings, -Scott. --001636c924b2dff33e0487ba8553 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

<div class=3D"gmail_quote">On Fri, May 28, 2010 at 4:12 PM, Derek S= imkowiak <span dir=3D"ltr"><<a href=3D"mailto:[email protected]">dereks= @realloc.net> wrote:<blockquote class=3D"gmail_quote" style= =3D"margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex;"> =C2=A0 I can mount it using these options in /etc/fstab... note the use of= "setuids" here:

//cst6/testhome /testhome cifs iocharset=3Dutf8,credentials=3D/root/cst6_pa= ssword.txt,setuids 0 0

Does it work if you change 'setuids' to '= suid'?

<blockquote class=3D"gmail_quote" style=3D"m= argin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex;"> =C2=A0 Is there anything else I can try? =C2=A0Looking at this earlier pos= t, it seems like maybe "setuids" is not even a supported option a= nymore...?

<a href=3D"http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux-cifs-client/2010-March/0056= 00.html" target=3D"_blank">http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux-cifs-client= /2010-March/005600.html

The client code has be= en moved out of the samba package recently. =C2=A0In the current release of= the client (the client is now released separately from the samba suite, bu= t the two aren't in sync yet) the setuid functionality is deprecated (b= ut can still be enabled at compile time). =C2=A0At the moment the option is= being called 'legacy'; I don't know if the functionality is be= ing dropped or upgraded/redesigned, though.

--
Peace and Blessings,
-Scott.

--001636c924b2dff33e0487ba8553-- --===============6909154263594101164== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ linux-cifs-client mailing list [email protected] https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-cifs-client --===============6909154263594101164==--
