Yes, they do appear to have ditched get_empty_inode(). I'm getting
sick of these incompatible code changes in the middle of a stable
branch, but I guess I don't get much say in the matter...

Note that this isn't by any means the first time that VFS has changed
in a way that guaranteed broken code in the 2.4.x series. One of the
dangers of not being in the official tree. I guess I'll have to try
to push stuff into the official tree as soon as I get a couple more
things fixed up.
