[005] - Canoe 0.4
  by Michal Kwiatkowski (http://freshmeat.net/users/rubyjoker/)
  Mon, Dec 26th 2005 14:28

About: Canoe is an online book cataloging system. All users are equal and
able to either share or borrow books, and the system helps to store and
browse book data. It also automates the borrowing process so you can find
a book and make an arrangement with the owner with only few clicks. It is
fast and robust and was designed to be easily extended and modified.

Changes: This release is more bulletproof and easier to debug. Concurrency
control still needs some improvement. The most important new feature is
searching: users and visitors are allowed to browse the books database by
lot of search criteria, like title, authors, or publisher. The navigation
panel has been expanded by user-defined links.

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office

About: The Courier mail transfer agent (MTA) is an integrated
mail/groupware server based on open commodity protocols such as ESMTP,
IMAP, POP3, LDAP, SSL, and HTTP. Courier provides ESMTP, IMAP, POP3,
Webmail, and mailing list services within a single consistent framework.
Individual components can be enabled or disabled at will. Courier
implements basic Web-based calendaring and scheduling services integrated
in the Webmail module.

Changes: This release includes fixes for minor bugs in the Web mail server
and adds a new "meta-HTML" style of created messages. A new outgoing ESMTP
option was added that sets the server's host name, on multi-homed hosts,
based on the message connection's outgoing IP address. A new optional
setting was added that bounces messages to their authenticated return
address instead of the return address specified by the sending email
client.

[030] - PHP Shell 2.1
  by Martin Geisler (http://freshmeat.net/users/mgeisler/)

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
System :: Installation/Setup

About: PHP Shell is a shell wrapped in a PHP script. It's a tool you can
use to execute arbiritary shell-commands or browse the filesystem on your
remote Web server. This replaces, to a degree, a normal telnet-connection.
You can use it for administration and maintenance of your Web site using
commands like ps, free, du, df, and more.

Changes: Authentication is now handled internally in PHP in an attempt to
solve reported login problems. Configuration settings were moved to an ini
file, and handling of PHP Safe Mode was improved with better error
messages.

[031] - Pigalle 0.74-alpha

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation

About: Pigalle (PIcture GALLEry) is a slick Web based photo album written
in PHP 5. It makes it easy to create and maintain photo albums via an
intuitive interface, as users need only upload their files to a server
and let the program generate thumbnails for them. Visitors can choose
their preferred image resolution and images will be generated on the fly.
These generated images are cached and all meta-information such as album
descriptions, image information, and user settings are stored in a
database. A back-end administration interface helps to manage the files,
edit the descriptions, and so on, making it very easy and convenient.

Changes: This release moves the image library setting from Settings to the
image driver config. It adds compatibility with Sourdough 0.3.3-alpha.

[032] - Postgrey 1.23
  by rockoo (http://freshmeat.net/users/danielwebert/)
  Mon, Dec 26th 2005 11:12

Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: Postgrey is a Postfix policy server that implements greylisting.
When a request for mail delivery is received by Postfix via SMTP, the
triplet CLIENT_IP / SENDER / RECIPIENT is built. If it is the first time
that this triplet is seen, or if the triplet was first seen less than 10
minutes ago, then the mail gets rejected with a temporary error.
Hopefully, spammers or viruses will not try again later, even though such
behavior is required per RFC.

Changes: This release fixes compatibility with Berkeley-DB < 4.1, fixes a
crash in the database-cleanup routine, and updates the whitelist.

About: PyChoReLib is a Python library which transforms lists of notenames
to a chordname. The system uses built-in music theory knowledge to make it
easy and quick to add support for new chord types.

Changes: This release adds interval recognition and interval and chord
transposition. These features are based on classical music theory, e.g.
taking into account the distinction between an augmented fourth and a
diminished fifth.

[034] - Sahana Disaster Management System 0.2 Alpha
  by cham (http://freshmeat.net/users/chamindra/)
  Mon, Dec 26th 2005 23:01

Information Management

About: Sahana is a free and open source disaster management system to help
manage large scale disasters such as the Asian Tsunami 2004 or the Asian
Quake 2005. Some of the problems it helps solve is to find missing people,
track and help communication between relief groups, track all temporary
camps and shelters, and match pledges of assistance to requests for
relief.

Changes: New aid/donor pledge management features, new volunteer and
organization sub-activity management features, initial GIS module
integration with Google maps for positioning the location of camps, and
enhanced search with the tracking of reporting persons, as listing the
network people looking for a missing person can help connect people. Each
module now has many more features that can be customized from the admin
page. Security features such as roles, groups, users, and permissions per
module were added.

Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: Sahi is an automation and testing tool for web applications, with
the facility to record and playback scripts. Features include, in-browser
controls, text based scripts, ant support for playback of suites of tests,
and multi threaded playback. It supports HTTP and HTTPS. Sahi runs as a
proxy server, and the browser needs to use the sahi server as its proxy.
Sahi then injects JavaScript so that it can access elements in the Web
page. This makes the tool independent of the Web site or Web application.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in handling cookies and a bug in
handling HTTPS POST requests. It adds a _call(fnCall()) method for delayed
function calling. A lot of documentation has been added. The homepage has
been updated.

  by reflous (http://freshmeat.net/users/reflous/)

Text Processing :: Filters

About: spam.pl reads an email from stdin and creates a complaint mail
which it sends to the postmaster and abuse-receivers of the domains that
have relayed the mail. It is customizable to prevent complaining to
friendly hosts, uses your own complaint mail and is ready to be invoked
from within another mail program.

Changes: Some major inefficiencies were fixed. Comments were added. Tons
of bugfixes were made. Net::Whois::Raw and Net::Whois::IP are now used for
all whois lookups, instead of forking out "whois" processes. Some code was
optimized, and timeouts were put in for whois lookups.
