Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
About: CDnavigator is an application that files your CDs and DVDs in a
database. It also deposits information about photos (JPEG), music (MP3),
and films stored in such media. You can also store other metadata such as
notes and ratings. You can search over all items and save the choices.
CDnavigator supports an automatic cache that saves the most frequently
used data on hard disk. Photos can be viewed directly in the application.
It can download new photos from a camera, sort them into albums, and
prepare them for burning on CD.
Changes: The Installer is now the Updater and Configurator too. A Web
presentation tab was added, so now you can generate HTML pages from your
selected photos, and the presentation is determined by an XSLT style. A
content menu item called "show CD info" was added for found photos and
music items to show CDs with these data. DBManager was upgraded and is now
more robust, and it supports more DBs (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL,
Sybase). The CD box is a now comboBox with all existing boxes. A list with
scanned data is multiselected now. Documentation and a quick start guide
were written.

About: clink replaces duplicate files in Unix filesystems with symbolic
links. It can achieve good space savings, for example on
automatically-generated directory structures, such as compiling
toolchains. It is fast; it reads each file only once, and its runtime is
mainly the time taken to read files. It also consumes very little RAM and
is very easy to use.
Changes: This bugfix release ignores non-regular files (such as device

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: DB_cart Class is a MySQL shopping cart script that can be used with
third party product catalogues and membership systems. The MySQL database
structure is neutral to existing systems. It can handle the shopping cart
(add, update, and empty) and checkout process (set the shipment address
and email the order). For existing cart users, the shopping cart is still
available upon the user's next visit and is visible by checkout. The last
option is configurable togther with a time period.
Changes: There are modifications and improvements inside the main class
file, several examples, and the table structure has been extended. There
two additional fields for the shipment values (name2 and address2). All
messages are available in German, English, and Dutch. The standard text
inside the email messages is in external files now; this content is parsed
inside the improved email method.

by David Read (http://freshmeat.net/users/Monead/)
Wed, Jun 14th 2006 19:36
Database
Software Development :: Testing
Utilities
About: FormatCheck is an application that screens flat files (fixed and
variable width) for violations in the format of the data. The input files
may contain one record type or a mixture of record formats, such as a file
containing header and detail records. It uses a set of XML files that
define the file formats that can be evaluated. Each XML file defines the
acceptable record layout(s) for one input format. The application supports
a record-related XML schema definition. This design makes updates and
additions to record definitions straightforward, requiring only an update
of the XML format definition.
Changes: With this release the incorporation of Log4J, JUnit, and
Cobertura is complete. The unit tests initially placed in several of the
classes have been converted to use JUnit. Due to this conversion, the
Apache Xerces library used by the application has been updated to the
latest version leading to the addition of the xml-apis.jar file on the
classpath.

Wed, Jun 14th 2006 13:10
Multimedia :: Graphics
System :: Hardware
About: GAMMApage is a program to adjust a monitor's gamma setting, either
fully or by color. It is capable of setting gamma for most Linux
distributions upon login, including those using ATI fglrx_xgamma. It works
both for graphical logins or console logins. It only requires write access
to the user's home directory, not to any system directories. It includes
"preparation" tips with white and black point targets to make gamma
corrections effective. This is the pumped-up, Python/GTK version of
Monica.
Changes: Shows and copies the gamma-adjustment command to the clipboard
for use. Has option to automatically set init scripts, but this is not the
default. Bypasses using Bash for supporting app detection (to hopefully
make it more portable). Color adjusting targets have been consolidated on
a darker background to ease settings.

[028] - Miredo 0.9.3 (Unstable)
by Rémi Denis-Courmont (http://freshmeat.net/users/rdenisc/)
Wed, Jun 14th 2006 10:05
Internet
System :: Networking
About: Miredo is an implementation of the "Teredo: Tunneling IPv6 over UDP
through NATs" proposed Internet standard (RFC 4380). It can serve either as
a Teredo client, a stand-alone Teredo relay, or a Teredo server. It is
meant to provide IPv6 connectivity to hosts behind NAT devices, most of
which do not support IPv6, and not even IPv6-over-IPv4 (including 6to4).
Changes: Dedicated blocking threads for packets transmission and reception
are now used to improve performance. The POSIX monotonic clock is used (if
available) to avoid problems when the system time is modified.
Minimalistic support for ISATAP client mode was added. Many minor bugs
were fixed.

really working (plugin files were missing). Small reimplementations were
done to support other Linux distributions. Preliminary dmraid support was

by Vincent Deffontaines (http://freshmeat.net/users/gryzor/)
Wed, Jun 14th 2006 13:19
Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: Nuface is a Web-based administration tool that generates Edenwall,
NuFW, or simple Netfilter firewall rules. It features a high level
abstraction on the security policy set by the administrator, and works
internally on an XML data scheme. Its philosophy is to let you agglomerate
subjects, resources, or protocols into meta-objects, and use those meta
objects to generate ACLs, which are then interpreted as netfilter rules by
Nupyf, the internal XML parser. This tool may easily be extended to support
firewall implementations other than Netfilter.
Changes: Now runs on PHP5, handles ACL groups in a better way, and lets
the administrator know when several objects with the same name were
created.

About: VisualRoute combines the tools traceroute, ping, reverse DNS, and
whois into a single graphical interface that analyzes Internet
connections, reporting quick and essential data points for finding
connectivity problems. An IP location database identifies the geographical
location of IP addresses and Web servers, showing the path of an Internet
connection on a global map. The domain registration and network provider
contact information are reported for each hop of a network route for quick
problem reporting. Several new advanced edition options include reverse
tracing to initiate a connection test from a remote desktop or data
center, port testing, Internet application testing, and TCP traceroutes.
Changes: The IP location database was updated.

Utilities
About: wtime is a command line utility providing a way to track time spent
on arbitrary tasks. The program serves as a front-end for plain text files
that hold time data. It provides a way to start/stop counting, display
elapsed time, and display time spent in the selected time interval
(defined by start and end date). The aim is to keep the program as simple
as possible.

System :: Systems Administration
About: YALA is a Web-based LDAP administration GUI. The idea is to
simplify the directory administration with a graphical interface and neat
features, while remaining a general purpose program (unlike some LDAP
browsers written specifically for managing users on the system).
Changes: A few important fixes which make YALA compatible with Fedora
Directory Server and PHP5 friendly.
