[001] - bayonne 2.0.0 (Bayonne 2)
  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 07:58

Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Bayonne is the telephony server of the GNU project. It offers a
script-driven threaded multi-line state event telephony service on
GNU/Linux, xBSD, and Microsoft Windows for building voice response
systems, and uses telephony plugins for runtime driver configuration. It
also features "TGI" for making Perl applications "telephony aware". It may
be used to build telephony-based system administration, home automation,
automated attendant, v-commerce, and voice messaging systems.

Changes: Code cleanup was done and new baseline libraries are used for
future development: ccrtp >= 1.5.0, Common C++ >= 1.5.0, and ccscript3 >=
1.1.0.

  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:03

Software Development :: Interpreters
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The OST ccscript package offers a class extensible threaded
embedded scripting engine for use with the Common C++ GNU package. This
engine is also used in Bayonne (the GNU telephony server), and in TOSI
(FreeBSD and GNU/Linux PBX integration servers). This engine differs from
traditional scripting systems in that it is used to script near real-time
state-event systems through deterministic callback step execution rather
than the linear and non-deterministic fashion of embedded script libraries
such as tcl, and libguile.

Changes: Code cleanup and harmonization of the API were done for better
consistency.

[005] - Cobras 0.02
  by Piotr Pszczolkowski (http://freshmeat.net/users/PiotrPsz/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:26

Software Development :: Build Tools
Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

About: Cobras is a programming environment for Qt, and is written in Qt
itself. It is basic, but very functional and helpful. It is small, fast,
and easy in use. It consists of one binary file (plus an icon for the
desktop). It does not create its own files when working with a project,
but uses only the original '.pro' file.

Changes: The "run" procedure was changed so that "make" is started before
"run". The user can now change the content of a project file (pro) from
the program level. It is possible to add and remove a file from a project
file. On the left panel with the tree of project files, when the user
clicks the right mouse button, a menu shows up. From this menu, a user can
open, remove, and rename the files of project.

  by Chris (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrislusf/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:20

Database
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: DBSight is a J2EE search platform for rapidly developing search
engines on any relational database, for both beginners and experts. It's
scalable, easy to create, and fast to search. It features a built-in
database crawler following user-defined SQL, incremental indexing,
user-controllable result ranking, the ability to return results with
highlights (like Google), and categorized result counts (like Amazon). It
can easily integrate with a non-Java environment with XML/JSON. There is a
UI for all operations, so no Java coding is necessary.

Changes: The analyzer is now consistent for query parsing and content
indexing. MySQL crawling performance was greatly improved. Multi-server
clustering mode was improved with faster transferring speed and
write-ahead to ensure correctness. Index configuration files and template
files can be downloaded and uploaded.

  by Stas Z (http://freshmeat.net/users/staslinux/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 09:32

About: GAC stands for GTK Alarm Clock and is intended for the GNU/Linux
system. It's an alarm clock application which is used to splash alarm
messages on your desktop or run a command at any given time. It consists
of two parts: a graphical client and a daemon that runs in the background.
The client is used to set, edit, and remove the alarms which are handled by
the daemon. GAC runs on any desktop and only needs the GTK libraries.

Changes: The alarm clock is fully functional except for running commands.

Communications :: Usenet News

About: newslite is a command line tool to download from binary newsgroups
and decode multi-part and single-part yENC and UU (Unix-to-Unix) encoded
files. It is resource efficient in terms of CPU usage and memory, builds a
"title list" in order to ease group content analysis, and is robust in
cases of news server connection loss.

Changes: This release adds a group Search option. The MAC binary is now
universal (PPC and Intel).

[029] - nwcc 0.6.5
  by Nils Weller (http://freshmeat.net/users/nweller/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 09:33

Software Development :: Compilers

About: nwcc is a small C compiler for Unix systems. It can generate
NASM/gas 80x86 code for Linux/FreeBSD/OpenBSD, YASM AMD64 code for
Linux/FreeBSD, PowerPC code for AIX, and MIPS code for IRIX. It doesn't
feature any software development support beyond plain compilation.

Changes: This release adds 64-bit ABI support for PowerPC systems. As a
result of this port, various platform-independent and MIPS-specific bugs
were exposed and fixed. The GNU assembler is now supported on AMD-64,
making assembling much faster than with yasm. This release works on IRIX
again.

[030] - OpenDBX 1.0.3 (Stable)
  by Norbert Sendetzky (http://freshmeat.net/users/nsendetzky/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:07

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The OpenDBX library provides a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The function
library is written in the C programming language and aims at implementing
access to the native database interfaces efficiently via a thin
abstraction layer. It consists of a basic set of functions that are part
of all vendor database libraries and can be extended by additional
function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS SQL Server, MySQL,
Oracle PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are supported.

Changes: Two minor issues were fixed in this minor release for the stable
branch. The MySQL backend didn't distinguish between clob and blob types
and the PostgreSQL backend returned a wrong status for empty result sets.
Furthermore, the code in sqlite3_odbx_bind_simple() doesn't generate a
compiler warning any more.

[031] - PHPlist 2.10.3 (Stable)
  by Michiel (http://freshmeat.net/users/michiel/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:37

Communications :: Email :: Mailing List Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: PHPlist is a mailing list and newsletter manager that allows
posting via a Web page. It works well when used for announcements, and can
handle very large email address lists. Users can sign up to multiple lists,
but will only receive a single copy of cross-posted messages. When signing
up, users can identify their geographical location, and messages can be
targetted to these. You can add place holders in your email that will be
replaced with personal details (such as the person's name). Users can
update their own information, and unlike many other mailing list systems,
they can change their email address. HTML emails are supported.

Changes: Some major bugfixes were made to further stabilize the code.
Upgrading is highly recommended to fix several XSS vulnerabilities.

  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:32

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. It is a higher
level language compared to Ada, C++, and Java. In Seed7, new statements
and operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type
parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object
orientation is used when it brings advantages and not in places when other
solutions are more obvious. Although Seed7 contains several concepts of
other programming languages, it is generally not considered as a direct
descendant of any other programming language.

Changes: The bigInteger library was improved to support division and
remainder. Testcases for division and remainder were added to the
chkbig.sd7 program. The compiler was improved to support bigInteger
division and remainder.

Database
Database :: API
Software Development

About: This library provides implementations of smart pointers for
automatically collected objects (using reference counting), object
persistence, unbounded and bounded arrays of smart pointers, generic
unbounded arrays of private objects and plain pointers, generic sets,
maps, stacks, and storage pools. It also includes table management, string
editing, and infix expression parsing tools.

Changes: Doubly-linked webs and lists of items with referential semantics
were added. Items can be of any type, including tasks, protected objects,
unconstrained strings, etc. A Get_Line procedure was added to the abstract
source interface to improve parser performance in the cases when compiler
optimization is poor. Slicing and concatenation operations were added to
the package Object.Handle.Generic_Bounded_Array. The code was slightly
rearranged to circumvent bugs of GNAT 2006 and GCC 4.1.1 (20060525).

[038] - Smart Common Input Method platform 1.4.5 (Stable)
  by suzhe (http://freshmeat.net/users/suzhe/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 08:37

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Smart Common Input Method platform is a development platform that
significantly reduces the difficulty of input method development. SCIM
splits input method into three parts: FrontEnd, which handles user
interface and communication with client applications, Server, which
handles the key event to string conversion work, and BackEnd, which
manages all of the Servers.

Changes: Several byte order problems in XIM FrontEnd were fixed. These
problems caused scim's XIM server to be unusable across two hardware
platforms with different byte order. Several bugs of libscim were fixed.
The GTK immodule was improved to support some special GTK applications
which don't use the GTK main loop. Many improvements were made for
scim-panel-gtk. Swedish and Finnish translations were added. The usability
of the RawCode input engine has been enhanced.

[039] - Speech and Debate Timekeeper 2.0.2
  by Jemmy Chen (http://freshmeat.net/users/jemmyc/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 22:14

About: Speech and Debate Timekeeper is a multi-platform debate timer for
various debate formats and individual events. It has speech order and time
limits preprogrammed for Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Parliamentary, Public
Forum, World Schools, Karl Popper, and miscellaneous debate formats. It
also tracks prep time for both sides. All time limits are user adjustable.
These timers give visual and/or vocal time signals at user defined
intervals. At the end of each speech, cross-examination, or preparation,
the timer automatically sets itself to time the next thing that needs
timing at the push of a button.

Changes: This release fixes a bug where prep time signals after the first
prep session for a given side would use time signal settings for speeches
along with visual cues instead of the settings for prep time.

[045] - XCB 1.0 RC2
  by Josh Triplett (http://freshmeat.net/users/JoshTriplett/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 07:51

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: The XCB library provides an interface to the X Window System
protocol, designed to replace the Xlib interface. It has several
advantages over Xlib, including size (small library and lower memory
footprint), latency hiding (batch several requests and wait for the
replies later), direct protocol access (one-to-one mapping between
interface and protocol), thread support (access XCB from multiple threads,
with no explicit locking), and easy creation of new extensions
(automatically generates its interface from machine-parsable XML protocol
descriptions). Xlib can also use XCB as a transport layer, allowing
software to make requests and receive responses with both, which eases
porting to XCB. However, client programs, libraries, and toolkits will
gain the most benefit from a native XCB port.

Changes: XID wrapper structures were removed and replaced with uint32_t
typedefs. The API conversion script was updated. xcb_generate_id was moved
from xcbext.h to xcb.h. The error out-parameter for xcb_poll_for_event was
removed; connection error objects should be used instead. The XCB IO lock
for Xlib is no longer exposed; xcb_xlib_lock and xcb_xlib_unlock are
provided instead. The code generator no longer implicitly imports xproto
for extensions. Generated protocol headers now declare struct/union/enum
foo, not just a typedef "foo" of an unnamed struct/union/enum type.
Checked requests now work correctly. xcb_generate_id was documented. The
tutorial was updated.

About: xjobs runs several jobs in parallel and limits the number of jobs
running at once so that every processor of the machine is busy, but not

normally executed one after another, no matter how many processors are
available. xjobs allows batching those jobs while still keeping the

[048] - XML event log library 0.1.0
  by legatvs (http://freshmeat.net/users/legatvs/)
  Sun, Oct 8th 2006 16:04

Software Development

About: libXEL (XEL) is an event log library that stores log data in SQLite
files and is capable of exporting it as XML and CSV. It provides a set of
C/C++ preprocessor macros for project integration. It can gather some
information about the system at run time. It is ideal, but not limited, to
generate log data for debugging purposes. The ‘xelm’ macros wrap the most
common C/C++ macros (e.g. __FILE__) to be posted along with the event
information. This and all the other information is stored in SQLite files
that can be accessed from many programming languages. Exported XML can be
used together, for example, with XSLT to provide a visually rich
presentation of log data in a modern Web browser.

About: XSI is an easy-to-use, secure, and comprehensive system monitoring
daemon that replies to network queries with XML-encoded system information
and statistics. This data can then be analyzed, graphed, or otherwise
presented by a front-end.

Changes: This round of cleanups and smaller fixes makes XSI more
compatible with non-standard systems, where the kernel and resolver
disagree on whether to support IPv6 or not. Also, the <cpu_load/> elements
are no longer overloaded, as the "One-shot mode" now uses <cpu_load_total/>
elements for its output instead. Various documentation fixes and internal
API cleanups made it into this release as well.
