[001] - abcm2ps 5.2.0 (Development)
by Guido Gonzato (http://freshmeat.net/users/goccia/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 05:30
Printing
About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.
Changes: This release makes the PostScript output compatible with the RoPS
interpreter. Several layout improvements were made.

[002] - APIlitAx 1.7.0
by Thomas Steiner (http://freshmeat.net/users/googletomac/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 10:49
About: APIlitAx is an Ajax application that allows users to manage their
Google AdWords accounts in an interactive and asynchronous way. The
application behaves almost like a program on your desktop, but runs
entirely in your Web browser. The name APIlitAx is a combination of the
names of the two central components of the application: APIlity and Ajax.
Changes: This release switches the APIlity layer to the latest version
(1.7.0), allows pausing Creatives and Criteria, and fixes a bug in the
Campaign changes evaluator.

[003] - Axiomatic Multi-Platform C 1.5.4
by napi (http://freshmeat.net/users/napi/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 07:00
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Axiomatic Multi-Platform C (AMPC) is a C to Java class file
compiler suite for the development of platform independent applications.
AMPC can also be used to integrate C and Java programs since AMPC's C
functions can directly call numerous Java methods and vice versa. AMPC
supports a very large subset of ANSI C (1989). It can be used to develop
new applications using C as well as port existing applications written in
C to run on JVM enabled devices. A JNI (JVM Native Interface) feature is
available for calling native C or C++ functions. The asm() directive can
be used to embed Jasmin assembly code within C source code. Support for
the SWT (Standard Widget Toolkit) based graphics API is available. J2ME
CDC 1.1 for mobile devices is also supported.
Changes: Several bugs were fixed in the "string.h" portion of the C
standard library.

[006] - bluebery 1.0.0.2
by Stephan Hesse (http://freshmeat.net/users/shesse/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 23:57
About: bluebery is an easy-to-use SQL/PHP based content manager that
provides PHP libraries and methods to use in your site's pages. These
methods can be used to easily access and print desired items or an
iteration of items that are stored through the bluebery Web UI. It
includes a library framework for PHP-based Web applications and pages.
bluebery can be set up very quickly, needs almost no configuration, and
makes writing dynamic peer-based pages very easy.
Changes: A major bug was fixed in many bluebery files (caused by
whitespaces behind the license g*). This prevented the previous release
from running with authentication. It was the cause of error messages which
stated "headers already sent by...". The doProtection function was added to
the library, which performs an include verification and prints out a
message in case the file is not included by the authorization file.

Thu, Nov 30th 2006 05:45
Text Processing :: Linguistic
About: The Computational Linguistics Toolset is a set of tools for
computational linguistics. It contains re-usable code for cleaning,
splitting, refining, and taking samples from corpora (ICE, Penn, and a
native one), for tagging them using the TnT-tagger, for doing permutation
statistics on N-grams (useful for finding statistically significant
syntactical differences between any two sets of tagged texts), and various
examination-tools. The tools themselves are well documented.
Changes: Compression was made the default for NgramPermutator and the
PermutationStatter, and it was removed as an option. A bug was fixed in
the compression of NgramPermutator that prevented the creation of data
since version 1.1.2.

About: DVBStreamer is a console application for streaming an entire DVB
service over UDP. It differs from other DVB streaming applications by the
use of the DVB-SI to work out the PIDs to stream and correctly streams
services that use a separate PCR PID.
Changes: This release has focused on stability over features. As a result,
there are just two new commands. The scan command allows a multiplex to be
checked for changes to the services and PIDs, and the setsfavsonly command
enables streaming of only audio, video, and subtitles (this also rewrites
the PMT to only include these elements). A memory leak in the service
cache, a 2GB file limit on file output, a service deletion bug in service
cache, and lots of other bugs were fixed.

System :: Logging
About: Logback is intended as a successor to the popular log4j project,
and was designed by log4j's founder, Ceki Gulcu. The basic architecture is
sufficiently generic so as to apply under different circumstances. It is
divided into three modules. The Core module lays the groundwork for the
other two modules, whereas the Classic module can be assimilated to an
improved version of log4j. It natively implements the SLF4J API so that
you can readily switch back and forth between logback and other logging
systems, such as log4j or JDK14 Logging. The Access module integrates with
Servlet containers to provide HTTP access log functionality. You can easily
build your own modules on top of the Core module.
Changes: Logback classic supports automatic configuration, allowing test
and production environment configuration. TurboFilters make their first
appearance in logback. They provide ultra-fast filtering possibilities. In
logback access, new Appenders are available. Logback access supports
filtering and event evaluations. The documentation has been improved. A
complete new chapter has been added about Appenders, the short
introduction to logback classic has been updated, and a new module,
containing many configuration examples has been added.

[029] - OfflineIMAP 4.0.15
by John Goerzen (http://freshmeat.net/users/jgoerzen/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 09:18
Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
About: OfflineIMAP is a tool to simplify email reading. It allows you to
read the same mailbox from multiple computers and ensures that your
changes will be automatically reflected on all computers. You can use
various mail clients to read a single box or read mail while offline with
full synchronization when you reconnect. You can read IMAP mail with
readers that lack IMAP support (same goes for SSL). OfflineIMAP's
multithreaded synchronization algorithm performs between 10 and 60 times
faster than many mail readers' internal IMAP support, and it can be used
even with mail readers that support IMAP already. There are five available
user interface modules, including scripted execution, an interactive
terminal interface, and GUI interfaces.
Changes: This release fixes a problem with INTERNALDATEs caused by some
spam with invalid Date headers.

Thu, Nov 30th 2006 05:41
Office/Business
Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting
Office/Business :: Groupware
About: Open Blue Lab is a RAD framework (MDA based) that transforms UML
models in Web 2.0 portal applications without writing code. It is
currently being used to develop a full Web ERP from scratch. Portal layout
may be configured through the UI, and Ajax and HTML-based forms are
automatically built from XML widget definitions, which may be generated on
the fly from a UML model that describes your information system. Widgets
are dynamically populated, making them data-aware automatically at run
time with no need to code any database interaction. This framework allows
you to focus on Information System design, with forms and portal
architecture being generated automatically.
Changes: Automatically generated forms are now of very good quality.
Specifying a few pieces of meta-information on UML models permits you to
order fields and parts (agregation or composition) to get interesting and
beautiful forms.

Thu, Nov 30th 2006 14:45
Database
Database :: Front-Ends
About: PySQL aim to be a full replacement for sqlplus (and much more). It
has features such as history, completion, and line editing. It has high
level functions (searching for tables, indexes, count, explain plan, list
of sessions, etc.), proper output for screen and files (CSV ready for
inclusion in spreadsheets), and user-defined SQL.
Changes: This release adds a pkgtree function to produce a graphical tree
of function/procedure calls inside a package. It adds more details to the
session detail command (session "d") with current statement and current
statement explain plan. Pysql has now a "server mode" that allows you to
make pysql listen to a TCP socket to be used remotely by thin client
(telnet). Readline features are not yet available in server mode. You can
use a custom separator between columns (the default is still space).
Completion now works if object names are prefixed with the schema. There
are other minor features and bugfixes.

Changes: Some cleanups to the API were made: class names (including their
namespace prefix) were made more user-friendly, e.g. by removing redundant
parts, e.g. qx.dom.DomLocation was renamed to qx.dom.Location. Obsolete
constants were removed. Several classes were modified to benefit from the
new string optimizing feature. Much improved key event handling was
introduced. The new handling provides a common subset for key events

[038] - Rebound 0.9.14
by Joshua Gerth (http://freshmeat.net/users/hrakaroo/)
Thu, Nov 30th 2006 23:57
Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
About: Rebound is a reimplementation of the game called Diamonds which
existed for the Macintosh in the early 90s. It is a cross between a puzzle
and an action game. The game play requires the player to use the ball on
the screen to hit bricks and destroy them. However, rather than hitting
the ball with a paddle like breakout, the player controls the left and
right movement of the ball with the arrow keys. The ball still bounces up
and down on its own, but there is no bottom to fall off of.
Changes: Rebound now has 14 playable levels. A Win32 binary for this
release is available. Users are encouraged to edit the data/levels.ldf
file to add new levels. The syntax is described in the levels.txt file
which is located the same directory. This makes it very easy to add new
levels.
