Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Security
Software Development :: Bug Tracking

About: Advchk is a tool for monitoring the security of installed software.
Advisory Check gathers security advisories using RSS/RDF/XML feeds,
compares them against a list of known software, and alerts you if you're
vulnerable. Since adding software lists by hand would be quite a boring
task, advchk leverages your system's package manager for detecting
software. Software installed on remote systems can be monitored through
nmap scans or by executing the remote package manager as an SSH
ForcedCommand using Public-key authentication.

Changes: The "package list via nmap"-feature and buzzword filter from 0.31
have been adopted and re-introduced to satisfy consumer needs. The
changelog is shown when "-C" is used. The addfeeds.sh script was renamed
to advchk-addfeeds.sh.

Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

About: Anjuta is a versatile Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for
C and C++ in GNU/Linux. It has been written for GTK/GNOME, and features a
number of advanced programming facilities. These include project
management, application wizards, an onboard interactive debugger, and a
powerful source editor with source browsing and syntax highlighting.

Changes: A gprof-based program profiler plugin, several improvements in
the debugger plugin, several improvements in editor plugins, and several
minor improvements. Integrated devhelp has been enabled now that it works,
and pixmaps are used for editor markers.

  by Steve McInerney (http://freshmeat.net/users/spm999/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 00:00

Internet :: Log Analysis

About: AWFFull is a Web server log analysis program, forked from
Webalizer. It adds a number of new features and improvements, such as
GeoIP capability, internationalisation, style changes via CSS, extended
front page history (more than 12 months), resizable graphs, and lots of
backend changes and simplification. The long term goal is to focus on Web
Analytics, not just Web Reporting.

Changes: TrueType support was added to all graphs. This enables local
character sets to display properly. Auto-generated translations for
country names in some languages have been created. These are still marked
fuzzy, so will not show under normal circumstances. Some trivial,
stylistic code cleanup was done.

  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 19:21

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: Bakefile is cross-platform, cross-compiler generator of native
makefiles. It takes a compiler-independent description of build tasks as
input and generates a native makefile. Its supported output formats
include autoconf's Makefile.in, Visual C++ projects, and bcc makefiles.

Changes: Bakefile was relicensed from the GPL to the MIT license. Support
for Visual Studio 2005 project files was added. Many small fixes and
improvements were made.

[005] - BasKet Note Pads 1.0
  by Sebien (http://freshmeat.net/users/Sebien/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 16:38

About: BasKet Note Pads is an application that provides several baskets
into which the user can drop all sorts of notes: rich text, links, images,
sounds, files, colors, application launchers, and more. Objects in the
baskets can be edited, copied, and rearranged. This application can be
used to quickly store Web objects (such as links, text, or images) or
notes, and it can also help clean up a clutered desktop. It is also useful
for collecting information for a report. The data in baskets can be shared
with co-workers by exporting them to HTML.

Changes: This final version adds requested features like saving baskets to
files and sending those files by email, importing from plain text files,
exporting sub-trees to HTML, backup and restore, and more. It is also less
buggy and crashes a lot less.

  by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 05:38

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast template engine written in C and compiled
as a PHP module. It started as a php_templates replacement, but developed
into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).

Changes: Lower/upper case policy was changed. Varible and context names
are case sensitive, while method names are not. A feature for commonly
used context format compatibility was added: <!-- BEGIN ctx --> ... <!--
END ctx -->. Other minor fixes were made.

[007] - BNF for Java alpha 2007-01-24
  by Dan Cohen (http://freshmeat.net/users/dan2see/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 23:36

About: BNF for Java is a parser/generator, or compiler-compiler. The
parser reads your input text, or "terminals", specified by your BNF
syntax. The parser features indefinate look-ahead and back-track. As the
grammar parses your file, it builds a parse-tree which carries the content
in the structure of your grammar. Then the parse-tree is traversed, driving
the output generators the you wrote in Java. The compiler uses several
files to control the project, so BNF for Java provides a Swing GUI to help
you manage the BNF, Java, and XML files.

Changes: This release provides a Swing GUI visual form for each file
needed for your BNF and the Java code that goes with it, as well as the
control files needed to run a compile or a parser project. A built-in BNF
compiler is provided. The project and grammar files are easily managed
with the new GUI forms provided by this release.

[008] - Burr Tools 0.2.0
  by Andreas Röver (http://freshmeat.net/users/roever/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 14:36

Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: Burr Tools is a set of programs for solving a certain kind of
puzzle, namely puzzles that are made out of square or cube-shaped units
and whose solution also contains only rectangular aligned pieces. The
program finds assemblies for the puzzle and also animates how you have to
assemble it.

Changes: This release can solve sphere puzzles and puzzles made out of
triangles. STL export for 3D printers has been added. There are limits for
the solver (if there are very many solutions), control over the disassembly
animation, an improved PuzzleSolver3D loader (now sorts out multiple
identical pieces), and more.

[010] - collectd 3.11.2
  by Florian Forster (http://freshmeat.net/users/flocto/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 23:51

System :: Monitoring

About: collectd is a small daemon which collects system information every
10 seconds and writes the results in an RRD-file. The statistics gathered
include: CPU and memory usage, network interface traffic, and system
temperatures (using lm-sensors). In network mode, clients multicast their
values over the network to servers which write the RRD-files.

Changes: A NULL-pointer passed back from plugins would crash the daemon
with some implementations of libc. This release fixes the plugins and adds
appropriate checks to the daemon.

  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 03:45

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Dozer is a powerful, yet simple Java Bean to Java Bean mapper that
recursively copies data from one object to another. Typically, these Java
Beans will be of different complex types. Dozer supports simple property
mapping, complex type mapping, bi-directional mapping, implicit-explicit
mapping, as well as recursive mapping. This includes mapping collection
attributes that also need mapping at the element level. It not only
supports mapping between attribute names, but also conversion between
types. Many conversion scenarios are supported out of the box, but custom
conversions can be specified via XML.

Changes: This release contains infrastructure upgrades, bugfixes, feature
requests, and some performance improvements. One thing to note is that
Custom Converters are now invoked if the src value is null, so just make
sure any Custom Converters you have created explicitly handle a null
source value.

About: FreeVMS is an OpenVMS-like operating system which can run on
several architectures like i386, PPC, Alpha, and many others. It consists
of a POSIX kernel and a DCL command line interpreter. The only
architectures currently supported are i386 and x86-64.

Changes: There may be some more instability compared to 0.2.3 due to
changes made in the AST system and modes to more closely resemble VMS.
There are also changes in interrupts and multiprocessing. Do not use any
write on the ext2 file system. IPACP is now working on i386 again, and
partially on x86_64. The telnet client is now working on the i386 again.
Do not expect as much of the x86_64 version; it has improved, though, and
no major issues have yet been noted. Bliss-64 may have something lacking

[037] - Java Print Dialog Framework 1.6
  by JPDF Team (http://freshmeat.net/users/hlander/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 19:34

Printing

About: The Java Print Dialog Framework (JPDF) allows software developers
to add a comprehensive printing capability to existing Java applications.
The JPDF can preview and print the Swing components that comprise the
application's GUI. Business reports and forms containing data obtained
from external sources (e.g. databases and files) can be composed and
printed. A wide variety of page-setup, print-preview, and print dialogs
(which can easily be plugged into an application) are provided. The JPDF
is designed to be integrated into Java Swing applications and applets.

Changes: A new form of composition and printing capability has been added
to the existing report generation capability. This enables printing of
reports that are similar to paper forms (e.g. invoices, work orders,
etc.). Many minor improvements have been made to the print rendering of
JPanels, JTables, and JTrees. This release has been tested and verified to
work under the recently released JRE 6.

[040] - libferris 1.0.5
  by Ben Martin (http://freshmeat.net/users/monkeyiq/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 23:41

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Filesystems

About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each file or
directory to present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various
data sources and expose them as filesystems and to generate interesting
EA. Current implementations include native (kernel disk IO with fam), XML
(mount an XML file as a filesystem), DB4, xmldb, Evolution, Firefox,
Emacs, LDAP, HTTP, FTP, eet, sockets, RDF/XML, RDF/bdb, and mbox. EA
generators include image, audio, and animation decoders.

Changes: Libferris is now exported as a native XQilla data model. The
ferris-xqilla command line tool was added for running XQuery against
filesystems. ferris-xqilla exports ferris-doc() to access many points in
your filesystem as xqilla documents. A PostgreSQL function may be mounted
as a filesystem. Shortcut loading of mounted db4 files was added. The
gphoto2 module was updated. An update was made to Context::begin()
handling for items which have been deleted via filesystem events. All
mounted XML files now have libferris-element-name and
libferris-element-number EA.

About: libstldb4 is a C++ wrapper for the sleepycat db4 database. It uses
the STL in the API where sensible, allows standard IOStreams for data
access where sensible, e.g. getting the value of a key should be able to
use an istream interface to allow simple partial value retreival, and
moves the transaction parameter to be the last optional parameter or
provides two versions of the same method for trans/nontrans. The API has
been modified to use more standard types. Operator overloading is used to
allow quick and dirty coding (mydb[ "key" ] = "value";) to set and cerr.

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: The OpenDBX library provides a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The function
library is written in the C programming language and aims at implementing
access to the native database interfaces efficiently via a thin
abstraction layer. It consists of a basic set of functions that are part
of all vendor database libraries and can be extended by additional
function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS SQL Server, MySQL,
Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are supported.

Changes: This stable branch release features a major enhancement of the
RPM spec file, which should now be compliant to the Fedora guidelines. The
Debian files were also updated to comply to the latest Debian policy. A

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: phpSortable is a PHP class that shows MySQL QueryResults in an HTML
table. As implied by the name "Sortable", the table also displays the
column headers as links which lead to a version of the table that is
sorted according to that column. Furthermore, it allows you to link the
individual rows with other scripts for modifying the rows. The class also
permits the user to limit the number of rows to display at once. The table
can also be navigated with the "last" and "next" links.

Changes: The class is now named phpSortable instead of phpSortTable. It
has a database abstraction interface, so it is possible to work not only
with MySQL but with any other database types. Therefore, the activeDBLib
class must be used, and it can be found at PHPClasses.org.

Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: ServingXML is a markup language for expressing XML pipelines and an
extensible Java framework for defining the elements of the language. It
defines a vocabulary for expressing flat-XML, XML-flat, flat-flat, and
XML-XML transformations in pipelines. The accompanying console app
supports reading content as XML files, flat files, SQL queries, or SAX
events, and writing it as XML, HTML, PDF, or mail attachments. This
software is especially suited for converting flat file or database records
to XML, with its support for namespaces, variant record types, multi-valued
fields, segments and repeating groups, hierarchical grouping of records,
and row-by-row validation with XML Schema. There is also an API for
embedding the software in a Java application.

Changes: Support for Flat-to-XML repeating groups and for XML-to-Flat
inverse record mapping has been enhanced.

About: uni2ascii and ascii2uni convert between UTF-8 Unicode and 20 7-bit
ASCII equivalents including: hexadecimal and decimal HTML and SGML numeric
character references, \u-escapes, standard hexadecimal, raw hexadecimal,
and RFC2396 URI format. Such ASCII equivalents are useful for entering
Unicode in program source or in programs that are not 8-bit safe, and for
testing and debugging. Several options allow Unicode to be converted to
approximately equivalent ASCII, e.g. by stripping diacritics. An optional
GUI is provided.

[069] - UserTracking 2 beta 6
  by Fred Leeflang (http://freshmeat.net/users/fleeflng/)
  Sun, Feb 11th 2007 06:37

About: UserTracking 2 is a tool that works closely together with Radiator
and 802.1x in an attempt to facilitate forensics investigations. It does
this by linking network layer 2 (i.e. MAC addresses) to network layer 3
(i.e. IP addresses). Since 802.1x keeps logs of users and MAC addresses
while forensics investigations will typically have an IP address and a
timestamp of an offense, it is neccesary to have such a link between layer
2 and layer 3.

Changes: Easily installable Debian packages are now available.
