[001] - Apache VelocityTools 1.3
  by Nathan Bubna (http://freshmeat.net/users/nbubna/)
  Wed, Feb 14th 2007 17:46

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Apache VelocityTools provides servlets and tools for rapid, clean,
MVC Web development with Velocity, tools for using Velocity with the
Jakarta Struts framework, and a set of generic tools to help with any
Velocity project.

Changes: A key focus in this version has been ease of use. It simplifies
developing your own tools (by removing the ViewTool and Configurable
interfaces), as well as the syntax for using existing tools within
Velocity templates. There's also a new showcase Web app that demos many
uses of the various tools and lets you interactively play with them.
Download the binary distro and deploy the showcase.war to your servlet
container. Also included is the usual slate of bugfixes, dependency
upgrades, entirely new tools, and new functions for existing tools.

Information Management :: Records Management

About: CitrusDB is a Web based customer care and billing solution that
uses PHP and a database backend to keep track of customer information,
operational CRM, services, products, billing invoices and credit cards,
and support information.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in the invoice total that could occur
when there was a credit and past due amount on the same invoice. The
search results page has been updated to go directly to the account when
there is a single result, and to show multiple pages when there are many
results. Invoice maintenance was also updated so that invoices may not be
removed if they have a payment applied to them.

[008] - Common UNIX Printing System 1.2.8
  by Michael Sweet (http://freshmeat.net/users/easysw/)
  Wed, Feb 14th 2007 10:33

Internet
Printing
Software Development :: Libraries

About: CUPS provides a portable printing layer for Unix(r)-based operating
systems. It has been developed to promote a standard printing solution for
all Unix vendors and users. CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley
command line interfaces, and uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP")
as the basis for managing print jobs and queues. The Line Printer Daemon
(LPD) Server Message Block (SMB), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect)
protocols are also supported with reduced functionality. CUPS adds network
printer browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD") based printing
options to support real world printing under UNIX. It includes an image
file RIP that supports printing of image files to non-PostScript printers.
A customized version of GNU Ghostscript 7.05 for CUPS called ESP
Ghostscript is available separately to support printing of PostScript
files within the CUPS driver framework. Sample drivers for Dymo, EPSON,
HP, and OKIDATA printers are included that use these filters.

Changes: This release adds a French localization, updates the Japanese and
Spanish localizations, and fixes several Web interface, printing, and
networking bugs.

Information Management
Internet

About: CorneliOS a Web based virtual operating system that runs on top of
a host system and offers services via HTML or XHTML over the Web. It
offers a secure environment that supports multiple users, large amounts of
data, and timesharing. It offers a user interface that looks familiar and
is easy to handle and learn, while still introducing some new concepts. It
acts as a software integration system (especially for Web applications),
and allows users and developers to create their own applications and to
share them.

Changes: This release offers a large number of new prototypes: a CorneliOS
Page Description Language (CPDL) render engine prototype, start page /
linking prototype code, a spreadsheet format API prototype, a site search
API prototype, and a file browser prototype, as well as various other code
prototypes. The database management system prototype has been improved and
offers new features, and the documentation has been updated. The release
also includes bugfixes, code enhancements, minor feature changes, and
documentation updates.

  by Phil Endecott (http://freshmeat.net/users/endecotp/)
  Wed, Feb 14th 2007 17:52

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
Database

About: Decimail Server is a mail server supporting IMAP and SMTP that uses
a PostgreSQL database to store messages. Mailboxes are defined using SQL
queries, allowing complex client-independent automatic message filtering
and categorisation. For example you can partition your messages
chronologically, by correspondent, and by mailing list at the same time,
with each message appearing in several mailboxes. You can also use
PostgreSQL's text indexing extension for fast keyword searching. Decimail
also features anti-spam processing of outgoing messages.

Changes: To better support multi-user environments, a set of views is now
created when a user logs in to the IMAP server, narrowing the database to
just that user's messages. The mailbox queries are then written in terms
of these views.
