Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries

About: APFP (Arbitrary Precision Floating Point) is an Unicon class for
performing arbitrary precision floating point calculations. It also
includes a class for calculating with arbitrary precision complex numbers.
It requires unicon overloaded operators. It also contains a ureal class for
built-in reals. Both classes keep an estimate of the accumulated error.

Changes: This is the first Ruby version. The design is much cleaner. Error
tracking and complex numbers are not yet completed.

[003] - CorneliOS 0.7.4r8
  by Jos Kirps (http://freshmeat.net/users/joskirps/)
  Sun, Apr 8th 2007 17:25

Information Management
Internet

About: CorneliOS a Web based virtual operating system that runs on top of
a host system and offers services via HTML or XHTML over the Web. It
offers a secure environment that supports multiple users, large amounts of
data, and timesharing. It offers a user interface that looks familiar and
is easy to handle and learn, while still introducing some new concepts. It
acts as a software integration system (especially for Web applications),
and allows users and developers to create their own applications and to
share them.

Changes: This release offers a completely rewritten desktop window manager
prototype based on the dragdrop library by Walter Zorn. It puts an end to
the "alpha" series releases available during the first quarter of 2007
that were targeted to developers and testers only, and it also declares a
"feature freeze", which means that the current package contains most if
not all features planned for the final release.

  Sun, Apr 8th 2007 08:38

Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: Feudalistic Dynasties is a turn-based strategy game placed in the
time of feudalism in the early middle ages. As a king of a fictitious
European dynasty, you have to manage your land, setting in vassals,
building settlements, and recruiting combatants.

Changes: Combatants can change their active weapon. A general can found
formations and troops and disband formations, and an officer can found
troops. Troops can be added to and ejected from a formation. Information
about the members of a formation and a troop can be shown. Your king has a
formation inheriting a settler at the beginning. Settlements (rudimentary)
have been added. A settler can found a settlement. There are improved
terrain images and new equipment images. Some problems under Windows while
compiling have been fixed.

[019] - SimCList 1.1
  by Mij (http://freshmeat.net/users/mijio/)
  Sun, Apr 8th 2007 17:34

Software Development :: Libraries

About: SimCList is a high quality C library for handling lists. Its API is
simple but powerful, makes elegant and consistent use of information
hiding, abstracts the actual data type to store, and is fairly complete.
The library itself has good performance, and makes a good compromise
between performance in terms of time and space. It is well documented and
has a very fast learning curve.

Changes: This release uses freelists for improving memory allocation
performance. It fixes list_concat(), which could output inconsistent
lists. There are new ready-made comparators, metric and hashing functions
for the most common types (numeric and strings), and a new list_find()
function.

About: slacktrack tracks the installation of 'make install' (or similar)
and produces a Slackware compliant .tgz package from the results. It can
be used to build replica packages from Slackware's '.build' scripts or
your own.

Changes: When gzipping man and info pages, compression is forced (gzip

[022] - SRESI 0.19.0 (Development)

  Sun, Apr 8th 2007 04:04

Information Management :: Metadata/Semantic Models
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager. It currently sports both a
command-line and a PHP interface. It works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Changes: While in the development branch, this release is as stable as the
0.18.x ones. The tags were not XML-escaped during Del.icio.us export. Tags
and their related functions are isolated in their own module (in
progress). Tags are separate from the inner bookmark type, as a step
toward generic functions. The Set functor has been adapted to tagged
elements, where the ordering function is based on the elements only, not
the tags: the speed improvements are impressive. The bookmark renaming and
updating functions now work from either the URL or its hash, for faster
access.

About: Tellico is a collection manager for KDE. It includes default
collections for books, bibliographies, comic books, videos, music, video
games, coins, stamps, trading cards, and wines, and also allows custom
collections. Unlimited user-defined fields are allowed. Filters are
available to limit the visible entries by definable criteria. Full
customization for printing is possible through editing the default XSLT
file. It can import CSV, Bibtex, Bibtexml, RIS, MODS, CDDB, and audio file
metadata and exports CSV, HTML, Bibtex, Bibtexml, ONIX, and PilotDB.
Entries may be imported directly from Amazon.com, imdb.com, any z39.50
bibliographic server, PubMed, or an external script.

Changes: Collection importing no longer crashes on undo, and the z39.50
search was fixed so that it does not hang when stopping. The Amazon search
was updated to use a newer API. Alexandria files are properly imported and
exported. The ONIX export was updated to validate correctly. All HTML
entities are now properly replaced. Blu-ray and HD DVD formats were added
to the default video collection. The ibs.it search was updated, and the
error-handling for ISBN-13 searches was fixed.

About: TunaPie is a directory browser for Internet radio and TV streams.
As of 0.9.6, it is compatible with the Icecast directory as well as the
Shoutcast (winamp) stream directory service. Tunapie allows you to search
for streams and then launch your audio player (XMMS) or NSV viewer
(totem/xine/mplayer) of choice. It also allows recording of audio and
video streams using streamripper.

Changes: This release adds Web-based information in streams to the
information window. There are bugfixes related to not remembering or

About: xCHM is a cross-platform GUI frontend for CHMLIB, written with
wxGTK. It is able to display the topics tree, work with displayed pages
history, print the current page, work with bookmarks, change fonts and
fast search through all the pages of the loaded .chm document. Being
indirectly dependent on GTK+, the possibility of changing GTK+ skins makes
xCHM theme-friendly.

Changes: The binary index code was enabled. The search results links were
fixed. Lost Unicode character translation was fixed for the TOC and index
entries. The Polish translation was updated. Index display for non-ASCII
encodings was fixed. CHM localization bugs were fixed.
