[001] - Accerciser Accessibility Browser 0.1.3
  by Eitan Isaacson (http://freshmeat.net/users/eeejay/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 04:29

Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: Accerciser lets you test all aspects of accessibility on the GNOME
desktop. It uses AT-SPI to inspect and control widgets, allowing you to
check whether an application is providing correct information to assistive
technologies and automated test frameworks. It has a simple plugin
framework that you can use to extend and customize the accessibility
information displayed. It is written in Python and uses the pyLinAcc
component from LSR to interact with AT-SPI using pyORBit. In essence, it
is a next generation at-poke tool.

Changes: Plugin management has been refactored, so it is much easier to
maintain and understand. The source is entirely documented with Epydoc.
The description and child count are accessible in the interface viewer
plugin. Image description and locale are accessible in the interface
viewer plugin.

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Object Brokering :: CORBA

About: autotools-idl is a patch for automake and some autoconf scripts
that adds support for IDL and C++ ORBs. It tries to provide full support
for compiling IDL files to C++ stubs and skeletons. The autoconf scripts
provide unified detection of different C++ ORBs.

Changes: Non-default linking for Orbix was fixed (e.g. 64-bit under Linux
or Solaris). Detection of OpenSSL was fixed for certain systems in
entirely static linking mode.

[003] - Avast-ng 1.0.0
  by Krux (http://freshmeat.net/users/krux/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 04:10

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: Avast-ng gives you the ability to sift through vast amounts of log
files and display current syslog data which is useful to you. It sifts out
all the normal flotsam in your log files, and just displays messages which
you have defined to be either out of the ordinary or unexpected. With its
built in query builder, you can build new filters to include or exclude
log messages quickly. It uses a nifty, intuitive AJAX interface. You can
save multiple filters for quick access. Avast-ng continuously monitors
your syslog messages, showing the most current messages matching your
filter.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: The Avis client library is a Java API for clients accessing Elvin
event routers, including the open source Avis event router and the
commercial Mantara Elvin product. It fulfills the same role as Mantara's
"je4" library, but is a more modern Java 5 API.

Changes: There are still some features missing, including auto reconnect,
keepalive, and router notifications on connect/disconnect.

[005] - ccextractor 0.34
  by carlos.fernandez (http://freshmeat.net/users/cfsmp3/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 13:50

Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: ccextractor is a fast closed caption extractor for MPEG files. It
can generate .srt/.smi (subtitles) files directly from your TV recordings
(both analog and digital) or DVDs, as well as from other sources.

Changes: This release adds automatic sentence case conversion (useful if
you hate all caps), a Mac OS X build script, time adjusting (so you can
make subs show up earlier or later by an offset), and partial processing
(process just a segment, e.g. from this second to this second, or to this
line). Tables have been completed for all encodings. The default font
color can now be changed (in case you don't like your player's default).
Immediate caption display for rollup captions has been added, meaning that
characters appear immediately instead of line by line. There are minor
bugfixes.

[010] - DBMAIL 2.2.5 (Stable)
  by Aaron Stone (http://freshmeat.net/users/SodaBrew/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 04:12

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP

About: The DBMAIL package replaces the normal UNIX mailing system. All
email and user data is stored in a database. You can create an unlimited
number of email accounts, which can be checked using the POP3 or IMAP
protocol. Users can maintain their own set of email addresses. It is more
scalable, more secure, and faster than traditional mail systems. DBMAIL
has storage drivers for PostgreSQL and MySQL, and it has authentication
drivers for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and LDAP.

Changes: This release features greatly improved handling of UTF8 email,
has many fixes for IMAP protocol errors, and resolves a number of serious
memory leaks. A new feature was added to dbmail-export to allow
fine-grained message selection and post-export deletion.

[011] - delsafe 0.4.0
  by psds (http://freshmeat.net/users/psdasilva/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 18:04

About: delsafe is a set of utilities to hopefully allow you to recover
recently deleted files. Basically, when you delete or in certain cases
overwrite a file the original file is moved into a trash can. It does this
by overriding the original unlink, rename, open, and fopen library calls
using the Linux LD_PRELOAD mechanism. Trash cans are placed on top of each
mount point and are accessible by each user directly or through links
placed in the user's home directory. This makes deletion very fast
because, in fact, it is only a renaming. To each filename in the trash can
is appended a time/version stamp.

Changes: This release is stable, and has minor bugfixes and improvements.

[013] - Dual DHCP DNS Server 5.0
  by Achal Dhir (http://freshmeat.net/users/achaldhir/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 22:21

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
System :: Networking

About: Dual DHCP DNS Server is a combined DHCP/DNS server for small LANs.
Dynamic DHCP allocates/renews host addresses, while the caching DNS server
first tries resolving from DHCP-allotted names, then from cache, and only
then forwarding to external DNS servers. It has built in dynamic updates,
and also supports BOOTP PXE network booting and client specific options.
It is self-configuring, doesn't require the creation of zone files, and
uses little memory and CPU.

Changes: This release supports zone replication, primary and secondary
servers, SOA, and AXFR queries. It also supports a fully synchronized
backup DHCP server.

  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 13:45

Database
Office/Business
Software Development

About: EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC
25436, and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes an Eiffel
compiler, an Eiffel GUI editor, an Eiffel code browsing tool, a diagram
editor with round-trip, a refactoring tool, a debugger, a profiler, and
Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics, Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or
CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel applies O-O principles and Design by Contract
for high-quality software. Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT,
network, GUI, database, parsing (including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web,
COM, and more.

Changes: This release fixes a crash in the debugger while evaluating
non-object calls from a precompiled library, multi-threading
initialization and disposal when building an Eiffel shared library, and an
issue where the compiler would use finalized externals rather than
workbench ones when generating the code for a workbench executable as part
of a finalization compilation. The contextual menu has been reorganized to
make it shorter in the editor pane. There are various bugfixes in the
debugger and in the docking.

[021] - fwknop 1.8
  by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 22:27

Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: fwknop implements an authorization scheme that requires only a
single encrypted packet to communicate various pieces of information,
including desired access through a Netfilter policy and/or specific
commands to execute on the target system. The main application of this
program is to protect services such as SSH with an additional layer of
security in order to make the exploitation of vulnerabilities much more
difficult. The authorization server works by passively monitoring
authorization packets via libpcap.

Changes: This release adds support for ipfw firewalls (found on *BSD
systems). The IPTables::Parse and IPTables::ChainMgr modules are not
installed on such systems. It adds gpg-agent support for both the fwknop
client and fwknopd SPA server. Client-only installation mode has been
updated to restrict Perl module installation to those modules that are
actually required by the fwknop client. This results in clean installs of
the client on Windows systems running Cygwin. --Defaults has been added to
install.pl so that fwknop can be installed without prompting the user to
answer any questions.

[025] - GTK Photo Gallery 0.51
  by Jens Wilke (http://freshmeat.net/users/jenswilke/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 05:44

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers

About: GTK Photo Gallery is an album to manage small and medium-sized
photograph collections. It allows quick management by processing multiple
files together. Rotate, delete, move, and manage descriptions can be done
for all files in one directory at once. It is possible to upload pictures
to an online laboratory to order prints. GTK Photo Gallery is implemented
with GTK2-Perl, and due to the lack of a Web server in between, it is much
faster than CGI-based scripts. It uses the same directory structure as
(and can be used together with) My Photo Gallery (a set of CGI scripts).
It is possible to export (and import) an Album into 700 MB large parts for
easy CD backup, including static HTML pages to navigate the CD. This can
also be used to create a simple album for the Web.

Changes: Automatic configuration is done on startup if there's no
configuration file. Speed enhancements on applying changes to albums and
bugfixes were done.

  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 13:47

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System :: Networking

About: HAproxy is a high-performance and highly-robust TCP/HTTP load
balancer which provides cookie-based persistence, advanced traffic
regulation with surge protection, automatic failover, run-time regex-based
header control, Web-based reporting, advanced logging to help
trouble-shooting buggy applications and/or networks, and a few other
features. Its own event-driven state machine achieves 10,000 hits per
second on modern hardware, even with tens of thousands of simultaneous
connections.

Changes: Two long-standing bugs in timeout management were fixed that
could sometimes cause 100% CPU usage. Some noticeable improvements were
made to the way I/O is handled to save CPU cycles on very high bandwidth
download sites.

[031] - Java Application Monitor API 2.6
  by stevesouza (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevesouza/)
  Sun, Jun 3rd 2007 13:53

Database
Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management

About: The Java Application Monitor (JAMon) is a free, simple, high
performance, thread safe, Java API that allows developers to easily
monitor production applications. JAMon can be used to determine
application performance bottlenecks, user/application interactions, and
application scalability. JAMon gathers summary statistics such as hits,
execution times (total, average, minimum, maximum, standard deviation),
and simultaneous application requests. JAMon statistics are displayed in
the sortable JAMon report.

Changes: This release adds a JAMon log4j Appender that will allow
developers to keep aggregate statistics on log4j messages. For example,
they will be able to use a JAMon Web page to view how many errors have
been sent to log4j. They will also be able to 'tail' the log4j log file
via a JAMon Web page. All of this can be configured via the log4j XML or
properties configurator. No code changes are required in your application.

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: p-unit is a framework for unit testing and performance
benchmarking. As a unit test, it can run with a single thread or multiple
threads against the same test code. p-unit has an executor pool which can
accelerate the execution speed dramatically. As a perforamnce test
framework, it records memory consumption and execution time, and generates
results in the form of plain text, image, and PDF file. Users can also
easily register their own reporters by implementing the p-unit event
listener.

Changes: Executor pool p-unit accelerates the execution speed by using
executor pool, which fully takes advantage of hardware, especially
multi-core machines. You can use annotation to identify the test method
and expected exception, i.e. @Test(expected = NullPointerException.class,
checkMethod = "checkAdd"). Check Method has been added, and is especially
useful for concurrent testing. After executing a test method, p-unit
invokes the corresponding check method if available. The name convention
is "check_" prefix. You can also use @Test(checkMethod) to mark the check
method.

About: Vodovod is a single-player action puzzle game. You get a limited
number of pipes on each level, and need to combine them to lead the water
from the house at the top of the screen to the storage tank at the bottom.
It is similar to the Windows games Pipe Mania and Pipe Dream.

Changes: First completely functional version. It has 3 levels of
difficulty, and progressively harder levels. Keyboard controls are
configurable, and there is also joystick/joypad support.

Changes: The beginnings of support for copy protection kernel drivers.
More MSI automation support. Many 64-bit compilation fixes. A number of
OLE fixes. Many bugfixes.
