[005] - check_afs_rpc 1.0.0
  by Matteo Corti (http://freshmeat.net/users/corti/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 11:20

System :: Monitoring

About: check_afs_rpc is a Nagios plugin for checking AFS file servers to
see if there are client connections waiting for a free thread. If there
are more than a few of these, AFS performance tends to be very slow; this
is a fairly reliable way to catch overloaded file servers. By default,
check_rxdebug returns a critical error if there are more than eight
connections waiting for a free thread, and a warning if there are more
than two. These thresholds can be changed with the --critical and
--warning options. check_afs_rpc will always print out a single line of
output including the number of blocked connections, and displaying whether
this is critical, a warning, or okay.

[006] - DBIx::Perlish 0.32
  by Grrrr (http://freshmeat.net/users/Grrrr/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 01:21

About: The DBIx::Perlish module provides the ability to work with
databases supported by the DBI module using Perl's own syntax for the four
most common operations: SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and INSERT. By using
DBIx::Perlish, you can write most of your database queries using a
domain-specific language with Perl syntax. However, the module is not
intended to replace all use of SQL in your program. The DBIx::Perlish
module quite intentionally neither implements nor cares about database
administration tasks like schema design and management.

Changes: Incorrect regex handling with the sqlite driver was fixed.

[009] - Dual DHCP DNS Server 5.2Beta
  by Achal Dhir (http://freshmeat.net/users/achaldhir/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 14:36

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
System :: Networking

About: Dual DHCP DNS Server is a combined DHCP/DNS server for small LANs.
Dynamic DHCP allocates/renews host addresses, while the caching DNS server
first tries resolving from DHCP-allotted names, then from cache, and only
then forwarding to external DNS servers. It has built in dynamic updates,
and also supports BOOTP PXE network booting and client specific options.
It is self-configuring, doesn't require the creation of zone files, and
uses little memory and CPU.

Changes: DHCP Range related options can be added. ClientID is returned.

[010] - Exaile 0.2.11
  by Adam Olsen (http://freshmeat.net/users/synic/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 14:45

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players

About: Exaile is a media player aiming to be similar to KDE's AmaroK, but
for GTK+. It incorporates many of the features from AmaroK (and other
media players) like automatic fetching of album art, handling of large
libraries, lyrics fetching, artist/album information via the wikipedia,
last.fm support, and optional iPod support (assuming you have python-gpod
installed). In addition, it includes a built in shoutcast directory
browser, tabbed playlists (so you can have more than one playlist open at
a time), blacklisting of tracks (so they don't get scanned into your
library), downloading of guitar tablature from fretplay.com, and
submitting played tracks on your iPod to last.fm.

Changes: This release fixes some bugs that were present in 0.2.11b.

[011] - Expect-lite 3.0.3
  by Craig Miller (http://freshmeat.net/users/cvmiller/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 14:22

Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: Expect-lite is a wrapper for expect, created to make expect
programming even easier. The wrapper permits the creation of expect script
command files by using special character(s) at the beginning of each line
to indicate the expect-lite action. Basic expect-lite scripts can be
created by simply cutting and pasting text from a terminal window into a
script, and adding '>' '

Changes: This release adds remote_host=none, which permits using
expect-lite without logging into a remote host. This is best used for
trying out expect-lite without the fuss of setting up ssh_keys, etc. Not
all functions are supported (e.g. '>>' ). Installation & Quick Start Guide
documentation have been added.

[012] - GluCat 0.4.0
  by Paul C. Leopardi (http://freshmeat.net/users/leopardi/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 06:39

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries

About: GluCat is a library of template classes that model the universal
Clifford algebras over the field of real numbers, with arbitrary dimension
and arbitrary signature. It implements a model of each Clifford algebra
corresponding to each non-degenerate quadratic form up to a maximum set by
the user. GluCat classes are designed to be used as template parameters for
other template libraries, such as Blitz++, deal.II, Matrix Template
Library, and POOMA.

Changes: Some errors in transcendental functions have been fixed. The
functions exp, log, sqrt, and the transcendental functions are more
accurate. GluCat can now use framed_multi based on tr1::unordered_map. The
new symbol _GLUCAT_USE_TR1_UNORDERED_MAP controls the use of the header
file tr1/unordered_map. The function sign_of_mult(), many of the index_set
operations, and the Clifford algebra multiplication operations ^, %, and &
have new algorithms. The function index_range() has been removed.

[020] - phpMyID 0.7
  by CJ Niemira (http://freshmeat.net/users/cniemira/)
  Tue, Nov 6th 2007 14:42

About: phpMyID is a small, fairly lightweight, standalone, single-user
Identity Provider for OpenID authentication. It comprises a single PHP
script that can be used by one individual to run their own personal OpenID
"IdP." The program requires no external libraries, and has very minimal
requirements. It should run on almost any server that runs PHP 4 or 5. It

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Tokyo Cabinet is a library of routines for managing a database. It
is the successor of QDBM. Tokyo Cabinet runs very fast. For example, the
time required to store 1 million records is 1.5 seconds for a hash
database and 2.2 seconds for a B+ tree database. Moreover, the database
size is very small. For example, the overhead for a record is 16 bytes for
a hash database, and 5 bytes for a B+ tree database. Furthermore, the
scalability of Tokyo Cabinet is great. The database size can be up to 8EB.

Changes: Ruby binding was added. A bug related to cursor was fixed.

Software Development :: Version Control
Software Development :: Version Control :: Subversion

About: Userfriendly SVN (USVN) is a Web-based interface to configure your
subversion repositories. This interface allows you to create new projects
without a command line client, and it requires priviliged access to the
server. USVN will take care of managing the list of users which are
authorized to check out source code. This allows you to delegate the
administration of your Subversion depots. USVN permits easy management of
access restriction on Subversion files.

Changes: A minor security issue where unauthorized users could see the
list of files in a Subversion repository was fixed along with minor bugs.
 Locale detection was improved. Special characters like + are now allowed
in directory names.

[029] - Web-Based Adult Content Server 0.7.2
  by Beaky - The WACSip Man (http://freshmeat.net/users/wacsbeaky/)

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers

About: WACS (Web-Based Adult Content Server) is a suite of programs that
manages photo sets and video clips of an adult nature. It runs on a home
Linux/Unix server and creates a personalized adult Web server in which to
store, peruse, and catalogue a personal collection of adult material. Its
many features include model catalogs, attribute-based searching,
randomized highlights, new addition lists, and a flexible bookmark
mechanism.

Changes: This is a pretty major release, as it adds several new Web
applications for collection management, basically removing the need to use
the command line and SQL for getting image sets into the WACS system. There
are a whole host of changes across the retrieval side of the system, but
they're mostly incremental, and little fix-ups and tidy ups. There's a new
logout option to cancel a lease early when you leave a shared machine, and
the beginnings of a statistics application that gives various "top 25"
rankings. There's support for new sites and work on importing photographer
records.
