[006] - Atomsphere 2.0.0.0
by Bill Brown (http://freshmeat.net/users/wbrown338/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 22:25
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
About: Atomsphere is a Java library that allows you to create and modify
Atom 1.0 feeds. It is also packaged as a servlet-lib for use in Web
applications, and as a custom tag library to display feeds on a Web page.
It comes with an example Web application that demonstrates some uses of
the library. It is written to be tied as closely as possible to the
current Atom specification.
Changes: This release represents a substantial overhaul with a focus on
thread safety. The feed and all subelements of the library are immutable
and thread safe. Additionally, there has been a decent reduction in the
size of the API. All reading and writing operations can now be achieved
through the FeedDoc factory instead of the FeedReader and FeedWriter
classes. The stax-utils dependency has been decoupled from the root
atomsphere library. Additonal support was added for reading and writing
with arbitrary XMLStreamWriter classes. An issue with handling of the
XHTML content type was fixed.

by Steve McInerney (http://freshmeat.net/users/spm999/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 08:34
Internet :: Log Analysis
About: AWFFull is a Web server log analysis program, forked from
Webalizer. It adds a number of new features and improvements, such as
GeoIP capability, internationalisation, style changes via CSS, extended
front page history (more than 12 months), resizable graphs, and lots of
backend changes and simplification. The long term goal is to focus on Web
Analytics, not just Web Reporting.
Changes: Minor fixes and performance improvements. The big change is the
introduction of "Segmenting", allowing AWFFull to be used easily for true
analysis vs simple reporting.

Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business
About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: Speed has been greatly improved. The input mode option is
changed. Now there are 8 possible modes (-i000 to -i111) instead of 5 (-,0
to -,4). S-Lang library usage has been removed. The ancient -i option is
unnecessary and thus has been removed. A new -f option has been introduced

by Brian Warner (http://freshmeat.net/users/brianwarner/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 08:31
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
About: The BuildBot is a system to automate the compile/test cycle
required by most software projects to validate code changes. It builds
and tests the tree each time a change is committed, providing status
updates through a Web page or other protocols.
Changes: This is mainly a bugfix release, addressing several dozen
problems found and fixed over the last six months. Some small new features
were added: the "buildbot checkconfig" command was added to test the
buildmaster's config file before use, and the Waterfall can now accept
"?category=FOO" query arguments in the URL to limit the display to
Builders that belong to the given categories.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: CPPSERV is a Web application server / servlet container that
provides a Servlet-like API to C++. It also contains CSP (C++ Server
Pages) functionality, similar to pre-compiled JSP. It consists of
stand-alone application server and Web server front-ends. Modules for
Apache and lighttpd are available.
Changes: This release contains two major changes and few minor ones.
lighttpd module sends a response to the end user as it becomes available.
The change to the CSP (C++ Server Pages) parser was partially rolled back.
Instead of eating all the white space after any directive or libtag, it
only eats single new line now.

[060] - Shell.FM 0.4
by Vyazovoi Pavel (http://freshmeat.net/users/vyazovoi/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 11:43
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
About: Shell.FM is a console-based player for radio streams from Last.FM.
It's primarily written for Linux, but might run under other Unix-like
systems as well (it has already been ported to FreeBSD).
Changes: Support for the new protocol. Built-in scrobbling (part of the
new protocol). libreadline and libncurses have been replaced with a custom
readline function. There is better tab completion for radio URLs, tags,
etc. More functions are available over the network interface. Many HTTP
requests are now cached for speed. Love and bans are now done via XML-RPC,
not the old Web interface. Support for recommendations has been added. The
code has been cleaned up. Many bugs have been fixed.

[064] - Strasheela 0.9.3
by Torsten Anders (http://freshmeat.net/users/tanders/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 08:28
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
About: Strasheela is a highly expressive constraint-based music
composition system. Users declaratively state a music theory and the
computer generates music which complies with this theory. A theory is
formulated as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) by a set of rules
(constraints) applied to a music representation in which some aspects are
expressed by variables (unknowns). Music constraint programming is
style-independent and is well-suited for highly complex theories (e.g. a
fully-fledged theory of harmony). Results can be output into various
formats including MIDI, Lilypond, and Csound.
Changes: This release adds music theoretical concepts. A generalized
version of Schoenberg's guidelines on writing good tonal chord
progressions have been implemented as constraints. Strasheela now supports
composition in 31-tone equal temperament (31 ET). For example, various 31
ET chords and scales are provided, and output to Lilypond, as well as
Csound is supported. 31 ET MIDI output can be defined by the user,
depending on your MIDI setup. Other additions and bugfixes have been made
to the system as well.

[065] - Strings edit 2.1
by Dmitry Kazakov (http://freshmeat.net/users/kazakov/)
Sun, Mar 30th 2008 09:11
Scientific/Engineering
Software Development
Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: This library provides I/O facilities for integer, floating-point,
Roman numbers, and strings. Both input and output subroutines support
string pointers for consequent stream processing. The output can be
aligned in a fixed size field with padding. Numeric input can be checked
against expected values range to be either saturated or to raise an
exception. For floating-point output either relative or absolute output
precision can be specified. UTF-8 encoded strings are supported.
Changes: This version enhances UTF-8 support. Several packages were added.
Strings_Edit.UTF8.Blocks declares the ranges (blocks) of code points as
defined by the standard. Strings_Edit.UTF8.Categorization provides
categorization of Unicode code points, such as uppercase letter,
punctuation, etc. Strings_Edit.UTF8.Maps defines sets and maps of Unicode
code points in a way similar to the standard library package
Ada.Strings.Maps. Strings_Edit.UTF8.Maps.Constants provides some commonly
used sets and maps.

System :: Operating System
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based
About: The STUBS Toolchain and Utility Build Suite is a set of scripts
designed to build one or more software packages by means of a pre-written
set of configuration files. Each configuration file encapsulates the
necessary build and install commands for a given package, and URLs are
included so source and patches can be downloaded as necessary. STUBS is
designed to both bootstrap and work within the Franki/Earlgrey Linux
environment (an extensible busybox and uClibc-based Linux boot floppy
produced by one of several example STUBS configurations).
Changes: This Configurations release focuses on updating the toolchains
further, with newer versions of bzip2, findutils, m4, and patches for sed.
Earlgrey 0.8.0 is now a lot more similar to 0.9.x, and should no longer
require its own set of extension packages.

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: This library provides an implementation of tables indexed by
strings. The binary search is used for names of known length. It is also
possible to search a table for names of unknown length, i.e. to parse a
string using some table. Table elements can be of any private type. Key-
insensitive tables are supported.
Changes: A minor bug has been fixed in case-insensitive tables. A variant
of case-insensitive tables in UTF-8 encoding is documented here (the
implementation of is provided within Simple Components for Ada project,
because it requires UTF-8 support).
