Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: The Adventure-(PHP-)Framework is a Web development framework that
helps you design and create object oriented and reusable PHP Web
applications. It features a unique DOM model, the generic page controller
component, and a set of shipped XML tag libraries to build GUIs based on
XML/HTML templates. The framework core contains components like front
controller, global benchmark concept, global error handling, and a

[004] - Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer 0.92
  by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 03:49

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack.
But even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.

Changes: Real time cut scenes were added. It should no longer be possible
for items to become stuck in walls. Teeka can no longer die. He will
teleport away if his energy hits 0. Teeka and the other blobs are more
aggressive when they fight. The game automatically pauses if focus is lost
(e.g. a screensaver comes on). Some extra hints were added for boss battles
(eg - in the Crypt).

  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 18:08

Scientific/Engineering

About: Channelflow is a direct numerical simulator for incompressible
Navier-Stokes channel flow, written in C++. It simulates fluid flow in a
rectangular box, with no-slip boundary conditions on the upper and lower
surfaces of the box, and periodic boundary conditions in the stream and
spanwise directions. Channelflow uses a spectral discretization in spatial
directions (Fourier x Chebyshev x Fourier) and finite-differencing in time,
on primitive variables (3D velocity and pressure).

Changes: The documentation was improved. The dependency on Octave was
removed. Minor bugs were fixed.

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Testing

About: CMake is a cross-platform, open-source build system. It is used to
control the software compilation process using simple platform and
compiler independent configuration files. It generates native makefiles
and workspaces that can be used in the compiler environment of your
choice. CMake is quite sophisticated: it is possible to support complex
environments requiring system configuration, pre-processor generation, and
code generation.

Changes: The Windows Vista build was fixed. Documentation in the Mac OS X
installer was improved. Compilation on Linux with Intel's Fortran compiler
was fixed. Installation bugs on SunOS were fixed. Visual Studio support was

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: Freeciv is a multiuser reimplementation for Unix/X of the famous
Microprose game of Civilization. By default, the game is an improved Civ
II, but this can be customized; modpacks for near-100% compatibility with
Civ I and Civ II are included. Multiuser gameplay is real-time: in each
turn, all human players move concurrently. The game is designed to remain
fairly playable even on poor network connections. Freeciv can also be
played on standalone machines, and its AI players are a good challenge for
beginners. The source code comes with the server, two X clients, and non-X
clients for MS Windows and Amiga. Freeciv is released under the GNU
General Public License. It is maintained by an international team of
coders and enthusiasts, and is easily one of the most fun and addictive
network games out there.

Changes: This release fixes a handful of crashes and another handful of
bugs. The server authentication backend was improved, most importantly
fixing a situation where bad user input could crash the server.

About: GNU gengetopt takes a simple description of arguments and
generates a C function that uses the GNU getopt_long(3) function to
parse and validate the options. It is perfect if you are too lazy to
write all that is required to call getopt_long(3), or need to use many
options. The generated code also works with autoconf or automake.

Changes: Compilation warnings for generated files were removed. A bug with
--long-help and enum options was fixed and the output of --help and output
of --show-help now correspond. A compilation problem in generated output
with mode options was fixed.

Other/Nonlisted Topic
Software Development :: Libraries :: Tcl Extensions

About: The Model Railroad System is a software package that can help you
run your railroad. It allows you to operate your layout, from running
trains to working your signals and switches. It has support for a network
of Bruce Chubb CMR/I USIC, SUSIC, and/or SMINI nodes, and/or a network of
Lenz's XPressNet DCC nodes. Software to create switch lists for freight
car forwarding and create timetables for your railroad are included. There
is software to help with photographing your trains, and to compute the
correct value for those pesky dropping resistors for LEDs and/or
incandescent lamps.

Changes: Two new programs were added. The first is Dispatcher, a
dispatcher control panel builder. It can also load XTrkCAD layout files
and draw a graph network of the layout, which should be useful in creating
dispatcher control panels. The second is ModelRRSystem, a launcher with
simple window manager features. These new programs are in an alpha and
experimental state. There is no documentation for them yet. Minor parser
fixes were made to handle minor changes in XTrkCAD layout files. A pile of
problems with the build process was fixed.

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP

About: The sift IMAP client is a simple scriptable tool which allows you
to carry out a number of operations against the messages maintained on a
remote IMAP server. Using simple rules chained together, you may select
messages of interest and apply various operations to them.

Changes: This release improves the error handling of all rule parsing such
that errors will cause the processing to stop rather than risking the
corruption, loss, or damage of mail. There have also been some matching
documentation updates.

Office/Business

About: Simple Groupware is a complete enterprise application offering
email, calendaring, contacts, tasks, document management, synchronization
with cell phones and Outlook, full-text search, and much more. Simple
Groupware combines standards like RSS, iCalendar, vCard, IMAP, POP3, SMTP,
CIFS, CSV, WebDAV, LDAP, and SyncML under one platform. Unlike other
groupware software, Simple Groupware contains the programming language
sgsML to enable the quick customization and creation of powerful Web
applications.

Changes: AJAX refresh for select boxes in new/edit views was implemented
(which is very useful when creating new items in popups). A new code
editor was added, called CodePress. sgsML was expanded with the feature to
view a field in multiple tabs. The doubleclick event in the "Display" view
was changed to open the details view. HTML export for "htmlarea" and
"wikiarea" was modified to show rendered HTML.

Information Management :: Document Repositories

About: SiSU (Structured information, Serialized Units) is a lightweight
markup based, text structuring and publishing framework (that features
granular search). With minimal markup of a plaintext file, it produces:
plain-text, HTML, XHTML, XML, ODF, LaTeX, PDF, and populates an SQL
database at an object/paragraph level for granular searches. Prepare
documents using your text editor of choice, then use SiSU to generate the
desired output formats. SiSU is controlled from the command line.

[032] - SmokePing 2.3.6 (Stable)
  by Tobias Oetiker (http://freshmeat.net/users/oetiker/)
  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 17:51

System :: Benchmark
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: SmokePing is a network latency monitor. It measures network latency
to a configurable set of destinations on the network, and displays its
findings in easy-to-read Web pages. SmokePing has support for distributed
monitoring as well as for dealing with dynamic IP addresses. SmokePing
uses RRDtool as its logging and graphing back-end, making the system very
efficient. The presentation of the data on the Web is done through a CGI
with some AJAX capabilities for interactive graph exploration.

Changes: Smoke is even present when the graph is cut at the top. The link
style is honored when zooming. A better error message is printed when CGI
can not read a secrets file. A custom style is used for the active menu
link.

[033] - TAU 1.7.14 (Linux Kernel TAU)
  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 03:51

Education
Education :: Testing
Software Development

About: TAU (Tuning and Analysis Utilities) is a set of tools for analyzing
the performance of C, C++, Fortran and Java programs. It collects much more
information than is available through prof or gprof, the standard Unix
utilities, including per-process, per-thread, and per-host information,
inclusive and exclusive function times, profiling groups that allow you to
organize data collection, access to hardware counters on some systems,
per-class and per-instance information, the ability to separate data for
each template instantiation, start/stop timers for profiling arbitrary
sections of code, and support for collection of statistics on user-defined
events.

Changes: This release added mechanisms for evaluating and excluding kernel
"noise" from profiling results. It was ported to 2.6.22.1 on x86_64 and to
2.6.15 on SiCortex MIPS.

[034] - uni2ascii 4.7
  by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 18:22

Software Development
Software Development :: Internationalization
Text Processing :: General

About: uni2ascii and ascii2uni convert between UTF-8 Unicode and 29 7-bit
ASCII equivalents including: hexadecimal and decimal HTML and SGML numeric
character references, \u-escapes, standard hexadecimal, raw hexadecimal,
and RFC2396 URI format. Such ASCII equivalents are useful for entering
Unicode in program source or in programs that are not 8-bit safe, and for
testing and debugging. Several options allow Unicode to be converted to
approximately equivalent ASCII, e.g. by stripping diacritics. An optional
GUI is provided.

Changes: This release adds options to uni2ascii to pass through
untransformed Unicode rather than converting it to ASCII escapes and as a
shorthand for cdefx. Several characters have been added to the -e and -x
options.

[035] - Xtables-addons 1.5.4.1
  by Jan Engelhardt (http://freshmeat.net/users/jengelh/)
  Sat, Apr 26th 2008 17:45

System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Xtables-addons is a package that mostly supersedes the old
patch-o-matic repository for the Linux kernel and iptables. Instead of
patching the kernel source, extensions are built as modules and thus allow
extending kernels without recompilation.

Changes: Compilation for Linux kernels from the 2.6.18.x-stable series was
fixed. The minimum requirement is now 2.6.18.5.
