[001] - ACL Policy Daemon for Postfix 0.71
by Miguel Filho (http://freshmeat.net/users/miguelfilho/)
Fri, May 2nd 2008 13:26
Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
System :: Systems Administration
About: ACL Policy Daemon communicates with the Postfix MTA using the
Policy Delegation Protocol, implementing an ACL (Access Control List)
system. Key features: greylisting with flexible storage using memory for
fast responses or disk for high persistence, SPF validation, control of
messages by day/time, variable message size limits per domain or email,
multiple RBL checking, and various ACLs available to use and combine. The
configuration is simple and intuitive.
Changes: Improved init scripts for Debian and Red Hat like distributions.
A fixed for a bug when loading ACL values from a file. Greylisting ACL now
has the default values time=5, lifetime=1440, backend=memory, and
root=/var/cache/apolicy. A new timeout parameter is available in
main.conf. There is a new memcached backend for greylisting ACL
(experimental).

[011] - COllaborative DEvelopment SHell 1.2.0
by Trump Coup (http://freshmeat.net/users/bourilkov/)
Fri, May 2nd 2008 10:58
Communications :: File Sharing
Information Management
Scientific/Engineering
About: CODESH (COllaborative DEvelopment SHell) is an automatic persistent
logbook for sessions of personal command line work. It records what and how
is being done, for private use/reuse and for sharing selected parts with
collaborators. It is an intelligent shell that automatically logs user's
shell sessions. Sessions are uniquely tagged and stored in local or
distributed backend repositories (ASCII flat file or Subversion or CVS
based) and can be extracted and reproduced at any time by the user who
created the session or by collaborators located anywhere in the world.
Changes: This release introduces the novel concept of a flex session. The
convenient log-and-replay mechanism of CODESH has been expanded to
log-modify-and-replay. Now individuals and groups can not only log, share,
and reproduce their sessions at will, they can browse and inspect sessions
from private or shared repositories, alter them on the fly from the
command line or files containing the changes, and "replay" many similar
sessions starting from a previously recorded session. The modified
sessions can in turn be recorded for further use and reuse.

Fri, May 2nd 2008 06:54
Desktop Environment :: Gnome
About: Florence is a scalable on-screen virtual keyboard for GNOME that
stays out of your way when you don't need it. It is useful if you can't
use a real keyboard either because of a handicap, disease, broken
keyboard, or tablet PC but you can use a pointing device. It aims at being
easy and pretty.
Changes: This release adds a Function keys extension, defaults to no
auto-clicks (as it seems most users don't use it), initializes the
keyboard with the state of the real keyboard (locking keys), gets the
modifier keys from XKB instead of hard coding them, adds a hack for the
Alt key so it doesn't move the window when it is activated, and adds many

[022] - Himerge 0.20
by Luis Araujo (http://freshmeat.net/users/LuisAraujo/)
Fri, May 2nd 2008 10:34
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions
About: Himerge is a GUI for emerge (Gentoo's Portage system) written in
Haskell using gtk2hs. The main idea is to simplify browsing the entire
portage tree, and allow running the most basic and common options from the
emerge command. It also offers several handy tools, like global and local
use flags browsers, inspired by UFED (the Gentoo Linux USE flags editor).
It also uses eix (a small utility for searching ebuilds with indexing for
fast results) as a back-end command to show package information in
HTML/CSS format, so you can access a package's Web site for a quick
glance.
Changes: The queue operation 'add' is now available through a right-click
from the browser version view for each package. The queue operations
'remove/clear' are now available from each of the control panel package
queue through a right-click. A backup of all the system files used by
himerge will be created inside the ~/.himerge/ directory. The USE flag
browser is highly improved. A new browser construction mechanism speeds up
the launch of the browser and shows a more organized and coherent
framework, listing only the necessary flags boxes available for a package
or the whole system use flags.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: MIDI
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Sound Synthesis
About: Minicomputer is a standalone Linux realtime software synthesizer
for creating experimental electronic sounds as they are often used in but
not limited to industrial music, IDM, EBM, Glitch, sound design, and
minimal electronic. It is monophonic but can produce up to 8 different
sounds at the same time, so its good e.g. for drum synthesis. It uses JACK
as a real-time audio infrastructure and can be controlled via MIDI. The
synthesis is advanced subtractive: two oscillators generate complex
waveforms going into a morphing formant filter. An additional oscillator,
7 envelopes, a delay line, and flexible modulation routing for each sound
voice gives the sound designer possibilities like a modular synthesizer
without the hassle. Instant recall with 512 sound programs and 128 multi
sets make it a good companion for the next laptop gig.
Changes: This release adds an installer/uninstaller, an installer script
for presets, improved MIDI handling while using less CPU cycles, and fixes
to make backup of memory files work.

[034] - OpenDBX 1.3.8 (Development)
by Norbert Sendetzky (http://freshmeat.net/users/nsendetzky/)
Fri, May 2nd 2008 07:10
Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries
About: The OpenDBX libraries provide a unified and consistent API for
software developers to different database management systems. The C and
C++ libraries aim to implement access to the native database interfaces
efficiently via a thin abstraction layer. They consist of a basic set of
functions that are part of all vendor database libraries and can be
extended by additional function blocks. Currently, Firebird/Interbase, MS
SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLite 2 and 3, and Sybase ASE are
supported.
Changes: The ODBC backend is now completely functional and ready for
extensive testing. The OpenDBX C++ library has been extended by the
Result::columnPos() method to be able to use column names instead of
numbers, and the methods in the Result class were generally shortened.
odbx_escape() has been fixed (it didn't work after the change in release
1.3.7). The sqlite3 and sqlite backends had a few bugs in their result
function which are corrected now.
