Software Development :: Libraries :: Ruby Modules
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions
About: The Amahi Home Server is a Linux Home Server; a "Home Digital
Assistant," or HDA. Each HDA is a Fedora-based server distribution targeted
for home and home office environments. It provides calendaring, a wiki,
shared network storage, network backups, printer server, VPN, and a plug-in
architecture.
Changes: This update brings the theme engine one step closer to full
customization. Platform 0.94 also adds support for initialization by the
themes through a Ruby init file. This enables the themeing of pie charts in
the setup/disk screen. The default theme included in the platform has been
enabled with this. iHama-theme 1.3 includes a clickable logo that takes you
to your dashboard. The setup pages with disk monitors now match the theme.
Also included are fixes for colors under IE/Safari.

[022] - Hasard 0.4
by Haypo (http://freshmeat.net/users/haypo/)
Wed, Jun 18th 2008 13:57
Scientific/Engineering :: Physics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Hasard is a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) library. It
includes multiple engines (algorithms): Park-Miller, Mersenne Twister,
Linux device (/dev/urandom or /dev/random), and more. It has a simple but
powerful API. For example, a PRNG seed can be generated using strong
entropy (using a hardware random number generator like /dev/random on
Linux). The library is written in C, and a Python binding is available. The
word "hasard" is the French word for "randomness" or "chance".
Changes: get/set seed, get/set state, reseed functions, and functions to
get the library version were created. hasard_double() now has two mandatory
arguments, min and max. A minimum/maximum period was added to the engine
metadata. Two new engines were added: Arcfour (RC4) and Middle-Square.

[023] - Hogwash Light BR 1.5 RC2
by Eriberto (http://freshmeat.net/users/eriberto/)
Wed, Jun 18th 2008 17:18
About: HLBR is an IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) that can filter
packets directly in layer 2 of the OSI model (invisible to attackers).
Detection of malicious/anomalous traffic is done by rules based on
signatures. It is an efficient and versatile IPS, and can be used as a
bridge to honeypots and honeynets. HLBR is a firewall element and can use
regular expressions to detect malicious traffic. For example, a rule which
might detect links to viruses in email messages would be 'tcp
regex(href="[^\n]+\.scr")'.
Changes: The URI test has been moved to the HTTP test (still testing). An
HTTP method test has been added. An URI decoder has been added to the
engine. Now decoders may have configuration options. New (and more
efficient) HTTP header detection. test_ethernet_{src,dst}.c and
README.{en,pt_BR} have been updated. The tcpdump header has been changed
from /var/lib/hlbr to /usr/lib/hlbr. A description and force-reload option
have been added to init.d to make it compliant with Debian and LSB. There
are new rules.

by Andrew Nevynniy (http://freshmeat.net/users/anevynni/)
Wed, Jun 18th 2008 07:07
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
About: ipband is a pcap-based traffic monitor. It tallies per-subnet
traffic and bandwidth usage and starts detailed logging if the specified
threshold for a specific subnet is exceeded. This utility could be handy in
a limited bandwidth WAN environment (frame relay, ISDN, etc.) to pinpoint
offending traffic sources if certain links become saturated to the point
where legitimate packets start getting dropped.
Changes: The integer type was changed to hold a cumulative byte count from
long to double to avoid counter overflow in reports. Debian-specific
changes include avoiding the use of /usr/local/, a man page in section 8,
avoiding the use of printf when running in the background, successful
building even if strtok_r is defined as a macro, and a change of the
default MTA command string for mailing reports.

and support for data formats such as (X)HTML, XML, iCalendar, RSS 2.0, and

Changes: The isetup-quality.py script has gotten two new options:
--show-lines prints the line numbers of the offensive code, and --graph

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: JpGraph is an OO Graph drawing library for PHP 4.3.x and above.
Highlights of the available features are: text, integer/linear, and log
scales for both the X and Y axes; anti-aliasing of lines; color-gradient
fills; support for GIF, JPG, and PNG formats; support for two Y axes,
spider plots (a.k.a Web plots), pie-charts, lineplots, filled line plots,
impulse plots, bar plots, error plots, and polar plots; Gantt charts;
support for multiple plot types in one graph; intelligent autoscaling; and
extensive documentation (150 pages).
Changes: An option to specify the window target for CSIM. Label precision
is automatically adjusted when the scale is manually set. Adding text to
rotated graphs had the wrong angle for the box. Startangle was ignored if
only one slice in a Pie was !=0. Arrays with non-consecutive indexes were
not handled as URL arguments for CSIM. There is an additional error check
for accumulated line plots. Incorrect handling of small slices has been
fixed. Output parameters to the headers_sent() method call are initialized.

About: Movable Type is a powerful, multi-user blogging platform. It's
widely used as a business blogging tool thanks to the ease with which you
can create multiple blog sites. It has a large community and many add-ons
available. It's written in Perl and tends to be a bit difficult to install,
unless of course you use the JumpBox. This JumpBox provides a basic
installation of Movable Type setup with a single blog on the root URL of
the system. It's highly recommended that you keep that blog and customize
it for your needs rather than starting from scratch. From there, you can
add other blogs fairly easily. This JumpBox is based on the 1.1 JumpBox
Platform and includes a backup system that supports archiving the state of
the JumpBox to NFS, Windows file shares, and Amazon S3.

[038] - rdiff-backup 1.1.16 (Development)
by Andrew Ferguson (http://freshmeat.net/users/adferguson/)
Wed, Jun 18th 2008 07:18
System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
Utilities
About: rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another. The target
directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse diffs
are stored in a special directory so you can still recover files lost some
time ago. The idea is to combine the best features of a mirror and an
incremental backup. rdiff-backup can also operate in a bandwidth- efficient
manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup and ssh to
securely back up to a remote location, and only the differences will be
transmitted. It can also handle symlinks, device files, permissions,
ownership, etc., so it can be used on the entire file system.
Changes: Many new features and bugfixes were added, including almost ready
native Windows support. The extended attributes and ACL support received
particular attention. In addition, many "permission denied" corner cases
have been fixed. This release includes better support for hardlinks, Mac OS
X, SMBFS, CIFS, AFS, SSHFS, and Cygwin. The rdiff-backup-statistics program
is now bundled (started with version 1.1.5). Beware that the network
protocol changed in version 1.1.13 in order to fix a long-standing bug.

Information Management :: Document Repositories
About: Wikidbase is a powerful and highly flexible combination of two
structural extremes of data management systems: a wiki and a database. As
such, it has all of the flexibility of a wiki (e.g. any kind of
unstructured data can be stored) and the structural data capabilities of a
database (e.g. data may be modelled similarly to database fields, tables,
and relations, such that structural reports can me made of that data). The
functionality is combined in such a way that this general-purpose data
management system may be shaped easily, without the need of a database
expert, into a custom data management application such as a contact
relation management (CRM) system, a knowledge base, a shared calendar
system, a project management system, etc.
Changes: The relationship interface has been improved. A wikidbase-admin

drop-downs, etc.) has been improved. A control panel for admins has been
