Internet
Security
System :: Networking
About: Astaro Command Center (ACC) is an application for centralized
management of Astaros gateway products. With ACC, network administrators
can easily manage and control multiple Astaro devices. The two separated
Web-Based GUIs (WebAdmin and Gateway Manager) enable the split of
ACC-system administration and role-based Gateway monitoring and can be also
implemented in existing Active Directory or eDirectory environments.
provides an effective overview that details the actual health of each
device, swiftly allowing administrators to see which gateways require more
attention or immediate action (by reason of e.g. threat level, license, or
CPU/memory/disk usage). Over the one-click WebAdmin SSO to each connected
gateway, it is possible to react instantly if necessary.
Changes: This Up2Date improves world map functionality, has several tree
view adjustments and fixes, and improves handling and performance for a
large number of devices. It includes some fixes for issues in the Web-based
GUI.

Sun, Oct 26th 2008 07:36
System :: Archiving :: Backup
About: Bacula is a set of programs that allow you to manage the backup,
recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of different
computers. It is based on a client/server architecture and is efficient and
relatively easy to use, while offering many advanced storage management
features that make it easy to find and recover lost or damaged files.
Changes: This beta release introduces new features like "accurate backup"
(tracking of deleted files in incremental/differential backups), copy jobs,
"Virtual Backup" (consolidating full and subsequent
differential/incremental backups into a new full backup), and TLS
authentication. Bacula now uses shared libraries to reduce memory
footprint, allows bextract to restore data of "non-portable" Win32 backups
on any OS, and offers better control over duplicate jobs and upgrading jobs
to Differential or Full. The release also introduces a plugin API and a
plugin for backing up Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007.

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Cibyl is a programming environment that allows compiled C/C++
programs to execute on J2ME-capable phones. Cibyl uses GCC to compile
programs to MIPS binaries, and these are then translated into Java
bytecode. The use of binary translation and the simplicity of translating
MIPS instructions means that Cibyl programs can be quite well-performing.
With Cibyl, programs written in C/C++ can be ported to J2ME without
switching languages.
Changes: setjmp/longjmp has been implemented. Exception handling has been
refactored, including the ability to throw Java exceptions from C/C++. An
optimization-related bug has been fixed.

About: JDebugTool is a standalone graphical Java debugger built on top of
the standard JPDA (Java Platform Debugger Architecture).
Changes: In this release, the tooltips on the tabs in the Objects and
String/To String top-level Frames, now display the object paths taken to
"drill down" to the object displayed in that tab. Hot Swap will now
remember the root directory/directories of the class files that are
hot-swapped, so that subsequent hot-swap operations on class files in the
same class file hierarchies will no longer require the user to navigate in
the File Chooser dialog each time to the class file. The File Chooser
dialog will now open to the anticipated class file to hot-swap
automatically.

[027] - Sutekh 0.6.0rc1 (Stable)
by Simon Cross (http://freshmeat.net/users/hodgestar/)
Sun, Oct 26th 2008 07:57
Games/Entertainment
About: Sutekh is a card collection manager for the game called "Vampire:
the Eternal Struggle" (VtES). Card information is stored in an SQL database
backend. Current functionality includes parsing information from the
official VtES card list and ruling HTML files, exporting of decks to HTML
and ARDB XML files, flexible filtering of lists of cards, backing up and
restoring of the card database, configurable selection of which card
information is displayed, and basic deck analysis.
Changes: The database structure was reworked in order to remove the
distinction between abstract and physical decks from the user's
perspective. This change required significant reworking of other parts of
Sutekh, but it's relatively stable again. Other changes include the
addition of built-in documentation, cleaning up and testing of importers
and exporters, workarounds for GTK behavioral differences on Windows, the
addition of more keyboard short-cuts, and other small fixes and changes.

[029] - Tokyo Cabinet 1.3.15
by Mikio Hirabayashi (http://freshmeat.net/users/mikio/)
Sun, Oct 26th 2008 12:52
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Tokyo Cabinet is a library of routines for managing a database. It
is the successor of QDBM. Tokyo Cabinet runs very fast. For example, the
time required to store 1 million records is 1.5 seconds for a hash database
and 2.2 seconds for a B+ tree database. Moreover, the database size is very
small. For example, the overhead for a record is 16 bytes for a hash
database, and 5 bytes for a B+ tree database. Furthermore, the scalability
of Tokyo Cabinet is great. The database size can be up to 8EB.
Changes: Performance of the hash function was improved. Perl and Ruby
interfaces of the network server were added. Bugs regarding compilation on
BSD and Solaris were fixed.

by R P Herrold (http://freshmeat.net/users/rpherrold/)
Sun, Oct 26th 2008 19:11
Database :: API
Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment
About: The trading shim is a command line interpreter with a DBMS backend
to the socket-based 'binary format' API of the Interactive Brokers' Trader
Workstation. It uses mnemonic ASCII text commands to permit downstream
clients to easily access several worldwide securities markets and exchanges
(stocks, options, futures, bonds, and Forex) for "tick" data and history
(intraday and EoD). It also allows clients to initiate and supervise trades
of securities, manage accounts, and more.
Changes: This release fixes bugs in sql/slow.sql that constrained Contract
generation, and in startup with a FA account. It generalizes a type to
handle 'missing value' History data replies. It has changed from using AIG
to AMAT, in light of recent market events.

[031] - V6 Thompson Shell Port 20081026
by J.A. Neitzel (http://freshmeat.net/users/jneitzel/)
Sun, Oct 26th 2008 23:32
System :: Shells
About: V6 Thompson Shell Port is a port of the Sixth Edition (V6) UNIX
Thompson shell (circa 1975). The project includes osh, an enhanced,
backward-compatible port of the shell, as well as sh6 (a port of the
original shell) and glob6 (a port of the global command). Together, they
provide a user interface which is backward compatible with that provided by
the Sixth Edition Thompson shell and global command, but without the
obvious enhancements found in osh. This project also includes the following
associated external utilities: if, goto, and fd2.
Changes: This release integrates the external 'if', 'goto', and 'fd2'
shell utilities into osh as special built-in commands to improve shell
performance. It adds 'echo' as a special built-in command for the same
reason. It adds a new '-e' command line option to the fd2 utility. This

[032] - Wcalc 2.4
by memoryhole (http://freshmeat.net/users/memoryhole/)
Sun, Oct 26th 2008 23:53
About: Wcalc is a very capable calculator. It has standard functions (sin,
asin, and sinh for example), many pre-defined constants (pi, e, c, etc.),
support for using variables, a command history, hex/octal/binary input and
output, unit conversions, bit-shifting, embedded comments, and an
expandable expression entry field. It evaluates expressions using the
standard order of operations.
Changes: Many small bugfixes, improved C-like bitwise operations, and
stability fixes. The input internationalization is now allowed to be
different from the output internationalization.
