About: Alleyoop is a GNOME frontend to the Valgrind memory checker. Its
features include a right-click context menu to intelligently suppress
errors or launch an editor on the source file, jumping to the exact line of
the error condition. A searchbar at the top of the viewer can be used to
limit the viewable errors to those that match the regex criteria entered. A
fully functional Suppressions editor is also included.

Changes: This release adds support for a number of new Valgrind
command-line options and fixes the command-line parser to handle the -I and
-R switches.

About: Ampache is a Web-based audio file manager. It allows you to view,
edit, and play your audio files via the Web. It has support for playlists,
artist and album views, album art, random play, playback via HTTP with
on-the-fly transcoding and downsampling, vote based playback, playback via
MPD and Icecast, an integrated Flash player, and per-user themes and song
play tracking. You can also link multiple Ampache servers together using
XML-RPC. Ampache supports gettext translations and has full translations
into many languages. 

Changes: This version includes a large number of major feature additions,
including IPv6 ALC entries, video, localplay control via an API, lyrics
importing, ACL creation wizards, and anonymous user level access with
manual admin login. This version also includes a large number of bugfixes
and performance tweaks that should make many functions a little snappier,
especially the verifying of an existing catalog.

to set up the majority of QEMU's options.

About: Areca is a file backup system that supports data compression (zip /
zip64 format) and encryption, incremental backups, FTP file transfer, a
file history explorer, and many other features. It includes a transaction
mechanism, which guarantees the integrity of your backups. Two user

automation) and a graphical user interface (useful for backup
administration). 

Changes: This new version fixes a bug that occurred with Java 1.5 when
handling ACLs on Linux. It also fixes an "out of memory" error that

games.

About: CGI::ContactForm is a Perl module that generates a contact form for
the Web and sends a message to a predestinated recipient. Unlike many
form-to-mail programs, it's limited to this single purpose, but it allows
you to set up a decently designed form with a minimum of effort. In other
words, it's simple to use rather than flexible, even if there are quite a
few customization possibilities. 

Changes: MIME encoding (quoted-printable) of bytes representing non-ASCII
characters was added. Max line length will refer to characters, not bytes
(if Encode is installed).

About: Cobra is a general purpose programming language with a clean,
high-level syntax. It provides language level features for quality,
including first class unit tests and Eiffel-style contracts. It supports
both static and dynamic binding. Cobra is a compiled language with good
run-time performance, but also provides some scripting conveniences such as
a pound-bang line (#!) and one step compile-and-run. Cobra runs on Linux,
Mac, Windows, and anywhere else that Novell Mono or MS .NET exist,
including handhelds. 

Changes: This release has numerous new features, refinements, and fixes.

About: Curie is a very minimalistic, tiny C library. It supports basic
I/O, basic networking, S-expression based I/O, signal handling, process
handling, and I/O multiplexing. If the target architecture is explicitly
supported, statically linked binaries may be as small as 4-20 kilobytes; if
not, then it only relies on the host's C library. The library explicitly
does not provide a POSIX interface so that it may be used in conjunction
with a regular host libc (or without one).

Changes: This release fixes a lot of issues with curie-6. In particular,
there have been a number of fixes to the regex code, including UTF-8
support, and to some of the I/O code. C++ support has been significantly
improved, although curie++ has been mostly stripped out of the release
itself. The documentation received a big boost as well, and icemake can now
handle documentation in Tex and will use Doxygen when appropriate and
available. Icemake has also been given the ability to create shared
objects.

About: CVL is a library for image and data processing using graphics
processing units (GPUs). It is suitable as a base for GPGPU applications.
Cvtool is a general-purpose computer vision tool that is based on the CVL
library. It works as a filter by reading streams of data from standard
input and writing manipulated data and/or analysis results to standard
output. Complex analysis tasks can easily be realized in scripts. Many
image and video manipulation and analysis functions are included, as well
as some advanced computer vision techniques.

Changes: This release features new GPU-based functionality for wavelet

About: dns.c is a recursive, re-entrant, non-blocking DNS resolver in a
single .c file. It features a record-agnostic API, restartable record
iterators, and smart queries which recursively follow out-of-bailiwick NS,
MX, and SRV host references. It works just as well as a stub resolver, too.

Changes: Composing an SRV object into packet data with dns_srv_push()
wrote out the wrong record data length value. This was a rare case with the
pre-existing code, and it was always triggered when querying SRV records
through the new address info API. An address info API that is semantically
similar to getaddrinfo() was added, but with appropriate enhancements: it
is non-blocking, re-entrant, iterator-based, and uses "smart" resolution of
MX, NS, SRV, et al hosts.

About: FastFormat is a C/C++ output and formatting library whose design
parameters are complete type-safety, efficiency, genericity, and
extensibility. It is simple to use and extend, highly portable (to any
platform or compiler), and it upholds the C tradition of you only pay for
what you use. FastFormat supports output and formatting of statements of
arbitrary complexity, consisting of heterogeneous types. FastFormat writes
to output "sinks", which can be of arbitrary type. 

Changes: A new fastformat::real inserter function(s) suite was added. A
new sink for OutputDebugString was added. Three examples of using custom
types, corresponding to the coming article in April's Overload, were added.
The fastformat::properties_bundle class was enhanced to sensibly trim
whitespace from names and values. Several minor defects/warnings were
corrected. This version bundles xTests 0.11.1, and relies on STLSoft
1.9.76.

About: feresPost is a library that provides the definition of classes and
modules devoted to the development of automated post-processing for Nastran
or Samcef finite element results. The library allows easy manipulation of
finite element models, groups, and results. Efficient post-processing is
possible because the time-consuming operations are written in C/C++. The
library is distributed as a COM component as well as a Ruby compiled
extension. 

Changes: A bug in the COM Group class was corrected. The density of CLA
materials is now correctly defined when Composite databases are read from
Nastran or Samcef databases. New mass units were added.

About: gentoo is a file manager written in C. It uses the GTK+ toolkit,
and the two-pane concept, somewhat inspired by DOpus. gentoo strives to be
very configurable, and also to let you do all configuration from a GUI
within the program itself. Using advanced file typing and styling systems,
gentoo determines how to display files in its listings, and also how to act
on them. The package includes a set of over 120 unique handcrafted icons,
for many different types of files. 

Changes: This is the first version of gentoo to require GTK+ 2.x. It also
includes minor enhancements and bugfixes.

About: GtkEveMon is a skill monitoring stand-alone application for
GNU/Linux systems. It is written in C++ and uses GTK for the GUI. You can
monitor your current skills and your skill training process without
starting EVE-Online, but (of course) you still need a working Internet
connection.

Changes: Various changes regarding portability: this release runs on
Linux, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, and Mac OS X. A certificate browser has been

About: iText is a library that contains classes to generate documents in
the Portable Document Format (PDF), XML, HTML, and RTF. It can also parse
XML documents and convert them into any of these formats. Pages of existing
PDF files can be imported and copied to new PDF documents.

Changes: Internal changes were made to increase the readability of the
code as well as the memory and CPU usage of the library. Most of the bugs
reported in the last three months have been fixed. New functionality
includes support for the JBIG2 format, support for actions in FdfWriter,

About: Perl::Critic is an extensible framework for creating and applying
coding standards to Perl source code. Essentially, it is a static source
code analysis engine. It is distributed with a number of
Perl::Critic::Policy modules that attempt to enforce various coding
guidelines. Most Policy modules are based on Damian Conway's book Perl Best
Practices. However, Perl::Critic is not limited to PBP, and will even
support Policies that contradict Conway. You can enable, disable, and

About: Sshguard monitors services through their logging activity. It
reacts to messages about dangerous activity by blocking the source address
with the local firewall. Sshguard employs a clever parser that can
transparently recognize several logging formats at once (syslog, syslog-ng,
metalog, multilog, raw messages), and detects attacks for many services out
of the box, including SSH, several ftpds, and dovecot. It can operate all
the major firewalling systems, and features support for IPv6, whitelisting,
suspension, and log message authentication. 

Changes: Sshguard ignores interrupted fgets() and reloads less frequently.
Support for non-POSIX libCs that require getopt.h. The iptables insertion
policy complies with further filtering rules. There is an update to
simclist 1.4.1 that defines EPROTO for OSes that lack it (e.g. OpenBSD).
Detection of some ProFTPd and pure-ftp messages has been fixed. Detection
of hostnames in the ProFTPd message has been fixed. A possible infinite
loop on blacklisted addresses has been fixed.

About: The Zero Install Injector makes it possible for users to install
software easily and without the need for root privileges. It takes the URL
of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the
program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to

etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run,
using environment variables to let it find the components.
