[002] - Active Storage Framework for Python 0.1.0
  by Georg Bauer (http://freshmeat.net/users/gbauer/)
  Sun, Dec 12th 2004 13:56

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules

About: The active storage framework is a hierarchical object database
modeled after the object database of Userland Frontier (in spirit, not in
format). It is based on an SQL database backend (currently PostgreSQL is
available) that is used for efficient storage of objects but uses a
Frontier like way to access elements in it. It has rich data types for
storage of Python values, and is tightly integrated in the Python
attribute and dictionary access syntax. Its query algebra allows efficient
hierarchical queries, and will be compiled on usage into SQL queries.

About: Exiv2 is an EXIF and IPTC C++ library that makes reading and
writing Exif and Iptc metadata easy. It provides full Exif makernote and
thumbnail support. The Exiv2 command line utility prints Exif and Iptc
metadata including Makernote tags in various formats, adjusts Exif
timestamps, renames images according to the Exif timestamp, extracts and
inserts Exif and Iptc metadata and JPEG comments, or deletes the thumbnail
or a specific type of metadata from an image.

Changes: This is a maintenance release containing numerous smaller
improvements and fixes. The Exiv2 utility now also deletes, extracts, and
re-inserts Iptc data and JPEG comments from/into JPEG files. The library
now supports creation of all Exif metadata from scratch, including
makernote tags and thumbnails. In addition, Exif as well as Iptc metadata
with unknown tag names can be added and manipulated just like known tags.

account. It supports features such as folder selection to get folders
other than the inbox and proxy server support (if you require a proxy to
access the internet).

Changes: xinetd configuration scripts have been updated for
hotwayd/hotsmtpd (there were some conflicts). Detection of cyrus-sasl v2
for hotsmtpd is improved, and should prevent problems during compilation.
Hotsmtpd now works with lycos/spray. There was a problem with the way
hotsmtpd was sending HTTP requests, which has been fixed. 64-bit machines
such as AMD 64 should now work with hotwayd/hotsmtpd. There was a problem
with libghttp. There are also installation guide and documentation
improvements.

[061] - tntnet 1.2.1
  by Tommi Mäkitalo (http://freshmeat.net/users/tmaek/)
  Sun, Dec 12th 2004 00:07

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: Tntnet is a Web application server for generating Web applications
in C++. HTML pages with some additional tags for inclusion of C++ code are
compiled into shared libraries and served from tntnet. It resembles PHP,
JSP, or Mason, but the programming language used is C++, and the pages are
compiled into native code before serving.

Changes: This release now uses cxxtools 1.2.1. The logging wrapper moved
there, so it is removed from tntnet. This version fixes a bug in the HTTP
header. The bug had no visible effect, but was not standards compliant.
Arguments to components can now be typed. Components can now implicitly
convert them to and from the appropriate type.

[064] - Web of Trust Statistics and Pathfinder 0.6
  by Jörgen Cederlöf (http://freshmeat.net/users/jc0/)
  Sun, Dec 12th 2004 13:11

Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
Security :: Cryptography

About: Web of Trust Statistics and Pathfinder (Wotsap) is a program for
graphing all the shortest paths between two keys in the OpenPGP Web of
Trust. These paths can be presented as text or as PNG images.
Additionally, it can generate statistics about keys and the whole
strongly-connected set.

Changes: All keys and signatures are verified with GnuPG. The primary user
ID is always used. There is indication of signature cert check level and
whether the primary user ID was signed. A new .wot file format includes
signature types. Key statistics can show the signatures that would lower
MSD most. Group matrices (show all signatures within a group of keys). An
option to dynamically add signatures, exclude signatures, signature types,
non-cross-signatures, and keys for the duration of a query.

[065] - wGui 0.4.0
  by Scorch (http://freshmeat.net/users/greenwire/)
  Sun, Dec 12th 2004 20:28

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: wGui is a simple, platform-independent dialog manager library using
SDL and FreeType2. Written in C++ (with extensive use of the Standard
Library and STL), the intention is to leave all of the antiquated C
paradigms out of it (like #defines).

Changes: Core to the version bump were a number of fundamental changes to
the drawing code. The big difference is that each CWindow now has its own
SDL surface to draw to, which is then copied to the window surface when
the screen updates. This fixes a number of Z-Order problems and simplifies
the drawing code itself. As such, the API around the drawing code has
changed a bit, especially in relation to the coordinate systems used to
draw.

[067] - zsync 0.1.3
  by Colin Phipps (http://freshmeat.net/users/cph/)
  Sun, Dec 12th 2004 13:11

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: zsync is a client-side implementation of the rsync algorithm. It
allows updating of files from a remote Web server without requiring a
full download or a special remote server application. It uses a metafile,
which must be created on the server, to determine which parts of a file
the user already has; it then downloads the remaining parts via HTTP. No
special server or Web server module is needed. It can also look inside
gzip files, allowing efficient update transfers even when files are
compressed.

Changes: HTTP proxy support.
