[OT?] Is it possible to increase socket timeout for yum?

Hi,

I see these more often than I would like to:

http://dl.atrpms.net/mirrors/fedoracore/updates/4/i386/kdebase-3.4.2-0.fc4.1.i386.rpm:
[Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out Trying other mirror.
http://ftp.riken.jp/Linux/fedora/core/updates/4/i386/kdebase-3.4.2-0.fc4.1.i386.rpm:
[Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out Trying other mirror.
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/4/i386/splint-3.1.1-10.fc4.i386.rpm:

...

I know that the real cause for all this is probably my ISP connection
quality (I have a 256Kb cable connection, which usually performs just
fine), but I was wondering if it would be possible to increase the
socket timeout value a bit to try to make yum more tolerant to slower
connections... is such a thing feasible?
