Hope this is the right place to ask this. Has there been any thought to the addition of syslog-ng to the repos? It might be too much of a specialty item but if you have a need for advanced syslog filtering (host based logging, logging to a database, syslog spoofing, and many other advanced features) then syslog-ng is a big help. I use it on centralized remote log servers and have been building my own RPMs. It comes with a spec file and is pretty easy to get RPMs built, just hoping it makes it into someones apt repository. :) The easiest thing to do is get the latest stable snapshot of libol and syslog-ng. It comes with good distro config files in the contrib directory within the tar ball. If built from the included spec file it will replace the existing syslog service with syslog-ng, log rotation, etc. Packages if interested: http://www.balabit.com/downloads/syslog-ng/1.6/src-snapshot/libol-0.3.16+20050624.tar.gz http://www.balabit.com/downloads/syslog-ng/1.6/src-snapshot/syslog-ng-1.6.8+20050815.tar.gz Thanks in advance! ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
