apt, yum, up2date, smartpm, ... ?

   So I've just upgraded to FC4.  I've been using apt for quite a while now, 
never making the jump to yum because (a) it used never to be able to fetch 
sources and (b) it's search output is too verbose, plus I'm worried about 
network traffic for each search (I may well be wrong, but it looks like it 
always runs off to the repos for each search unlike apt).

   But I know that yum is getting more attention now, can fetch source (I 
believe), and apt has 'issues' [although it coped admirably with a major cock 
up of mine last week when I accidentally apt-got half of FC4 over my FC3 box 
before doing a formal upgrade, then got stuffed after the upgrade due to piles 
of conflicting packages].


   So what to do?  Carry on using apt?  Is yum really resilient?  What about 
smartpm?

   And is there actually now a magical rpmforge site with all of my desired 
RPMs in one place, or should I still go for the separate FR/DAG/Dries/etc. 
sites?  In fact, having just read the latest posts, should I drop DAG's site now?
