I've noticed a missing line firefox-rebuild-databases.pl in your script 
output.
Here is how it looks in 1.07 firefox on my FC3.

postuninstall scriptlet (using /bin/sh):
update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications
umask 022

if [ $1 -gt 1 ]; then
  /usr/lib/firefox-1.0.7/firefox-rebuild-databases.pl
