Problems updating using smartpm

Dear all

Having installed smartpm (0.40) on FC3, I'm having problems getting it
to refresh. As a starting point I'm using just the channels it imported
from my apt setup.

First question: where should it pick up its http proxy information from?
I have to start the gui from the command line and get it to pick up the
http_proxy env var; starting it from the menu results in it trying to
connect directly (which is blocked)

Having gotten past that, I try to "refresh" the repository information,
and get lots of failures looking like:

Failed acquiring information for 'OS packages from Red Hat for Fedora
Core 3 - i386':
http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/3/i386/core/repodata/primary.xml.gz: Invalid SHA (expected 0a32e2950d4b978606bc428cb035fb41b14570e4, got 101245095e60ab3e447c2de008156f96fdfcccda)

Failed acquiring information for 'Updated packages from Red Hat for
Fedora Core 3 - i386':
http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/3/i386/updates/repodata/primary.xml.gz: None

none of which I get from apt/synaptic. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks
