Sounds like a build time altivec detection of some kind, since my current
builds come from a Grey G4, whereas older ones were done on a Beige G3.
Could you compare my build log with yours? Still, two options :
- Either MPlayer has a way of enabling some kind of runtime CPU detection
  as it does for x86.
- Either G4/altivec will need to be explicitly disabled, which might
  impact performance on those machines, I don't really know.

Please let us know what you find...
