(thanks all for the replies) Dag, I had seen this and read some google 
hits going back and forth about what's needed. So, in today's world of 
FC5 kernel all I need is the firmware package, and none of the other 
stuff that historically is going on? If so, that's beautiful - problem 
solved.

My first time with ipw2200, I historically use ndiswrapper and it's ilk 
with pcmcia cards. I was thinking on my way to work this morning how far 
the laptop support has come since my first install of RedHat 5.2 on an 
Inspiron 4000 many years ago... (which is the one still running to this 
day under my stereo, they don't make 'em like they used to)
