I've recompiled a recent ffmpeg snapshot now, which seems to be working
fine. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I still
prefer to rebuild vlc against its own static version of ffmpeg, since a
shared ffmpeg is basically hell to maintain, since major changes can be
introduced at any time, and break only part of the applications that
rely on it...

Oh, sure. With jack in Extras it shouldn't be a problem at all. As for
Goom, I had no idea vlc had it as an optional feature, so I'll look
into it. Obviously, a patch against my current vlc.spec would be
greatly appreciated, not only by me! ;-)
