I am trying to install package cinelerra-2.1-0.13.20070108.fc8.i386.rpm on my new Fedora 8 installation. I receive the following dependency: Missing Dependency: libx264.so.55 is needed by package cinelerra I tried downloading and installing x264-0.0.0-0.3.20070529.fc7.i386.rpm to fulfill the dependency but I get the following error: Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package libquicktime Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package ffmpeg-libs Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-bad Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package vlc Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package avidemux Missing Dependency: libx264.so.56 is needed by package mencoder I think the soname shared library reference needs to be updated in the cinelerra rpm. It that is the case, that means that the x264 package offered for Fedora 8 probably needs to be updated as well. I know this is often a common issue with mixing repositories and I have to admit I did install the x264 package off the livna repository which may ultimately be the issue. Hopefully this can be fixed so I can get the cinelerra package to install. If not, I guess I'm left to install from source.
