I'm in favor of creating a supplemental Wiki page. The main reason is 
that it's pointless to edit Gentoo news items after they've been issued 
- they would be already read at this point. It's not unlikely that the 
transition would require extra troubleshooting that you didn't account 
for, and there should be a possibility to add such information timely.

I believe the Bash snippet should also be placed on the wiki (sub)page.
