Just a lowly user of Gentoo (for what feels like eons), but I only use vanilla-sources, for the reason that immolo gave: I've noticed there is a user base around sys-kernel/vanilla-sources. > Their reasoning is they like pulling kernels directly from kernel.org > and this gives them a package manager solution for their needs. > > For tidyness, I try and have my systems only use packages.
