How to move from KMAIL to KMAIL?

Under Mandrake 8.2 I was using KMAIL.

I'd like to move all of the mail that I had under Mandrake KMAIL to be used
with Gentoo's KMAIL.

Seems like it should be a simple copy job, but when I fire up Gentoo's KMAIL I 
get lots and lots of messages saying "Wrong Permision".

I used the program 'gentoo' to copy Mandrake/home/me/Mail to 
Gentoo/home/me/Mail. 

Whats the right way to do this?
