Well i did this in the following order:

emerge -C ssmtp
emerge postfix
emerge fetchmail
emerge procmail
emerge courier-imap

then after all that i took me a while to discover that ssmtp was
reinstalled as a dependency by one of the other program i installed
after postfix.

Maybe it was courrier-imap? Or something wasn't right with my config? I
know there is a thread about that on the gentoo forums somewhere...
