Hi,

I had a similar problem.  I terminated rsync out of impatience,
so I don't know if I would have gotten the same error message.

Anyway, rsync was using a mirror in Sweden, which failed twice in
a row.  When I tried it some time later, I got connected to a
mirror in the UK, and rsync'ing completed without a problem...
