Hi Brad,
Have you ran a emerge -p --update world and then without the -p
to check if you require your portage system updating first?

Subject: [gentoo-newbies] Circular dependencies (MakeMaker)

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Just got my first gentoo install done, and am trying to get KDE.

I've run into a circular dependencies problem, which looks like:

squirt root # emerge dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker
Calculating dependencies ...done!
!!! Error: circular dependencies:

ebuild / dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.03-r1 depends on ebuild /
dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.03-r1

I've tried to "emerge rsync" again, but still have this problem.

Not sure where to go from here - any tips appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

BTW: I'm still waiting for my subscription to go through, so please CC:
if
that doesn't happen automagically.
