Munging is the proccess of disabling your email address that is easy for a HUMAN to correct, for example, using littvay_at_free_mail do hu instead of the correct. This is only in the sender setting, not in the reply to address. Also, when using a munged address, it's curteous to notify everyone in your signature that it is munged, and what the correct address actually is. The reason this came into usage, is SpamBots. They are simple minded search programs that scan Usenet and Mailing list archives to find working email addresses in order to spam you. Many are pretty simple minded and unable to determing that fo at die dot com, is a human readable but munged address.
