Laptop install

Hi.  I'm trying to install gentoo onto a laptop, and I've noticed the
live-cd kernel does not seem to include any pcmcia modules.  Without the
pcmcia support, I can't setup networking to download any stage files or
do any emerging.  Anyway around this, or will the next release possibly
contain pcmcia support?  Thanks.
