-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi... First of all, hi everyone! I'm very new to Gentoo, but not new to Linux in general; I started with RedHat several years ago and now run Mandrake 24/7. I've also played with SuSE, Debian, and (just to be different) OpenBSD. :) Ok, I have successfully installed the base system, all of that went exactly as expected, and I am now trying to set up my nice graphical desktop stuff. Before I went to bed the other night, I typed "emerge kde" and the expected long sequence of builds began. In the morning, something had failed with a SIG11 -- sorry but I did not write it down, assuming I could just do "emerge kde" again and it would pick up with rebuilding whichever package had failed. Well, some other things did build, but now I am stuck with this one package that fails -- seemingly because an installed package is improperly detected. Even though I have the Portage Manual in front of me, I have not figured out how to get past this problem, so I'll ask you all for help here. I've written down what seemed to be the useful parts of the error message I get when I do "emerge kde" (or gimp, or gtk-perl). (Yeah, I know, writing is for cavemen... but I tried "emerge gimp 2>&1 > errors.txt" and I did not capture what I wanted.) ... >>> emerge dev-perl/gtk-perl-0.7008-r4 to / >>> md5 ;-) Gtk-Perl-0.7008.tar.gz Unknown library `gtkhtml' Submodule gdkpixbuf is needed to build gnomeprint but it appears it's misdetected or not selected for compilation. Available modules: gtk gtkhtml gtkglarea gdkimlib gdkpixbuf gtkxhtml gnome gnomeprint applets glade ... !!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully. !!! Function perl-module_src_compile, Line 10, Exitcode 2 !!! compilation failed Any help with this would be great -- I need to build my beloved GIMP, not to mention KDE. :) (For some reason, emerge thinks KDE depends on GIMP... oh well, I want 'em both anyway!)
