Hi !

So I'm a Gentoo newby, then posting on gentoo-newbies mailing list.
I'm also a french guy, so I apologize for my bad english.

I'm quite not a newby in the Linux sphere, I have still installed some RedHat, Suse, Mandrake, but for now my preferred one is Debian, running on my personal server box, and my desktop box.

But I decided to make the step to Gentoo Linux, and then I have installed a stage3 of Gentoo 1.4 release candidate1.
Then I have completed the install process.
I have also done some emerge rsync, emerge -update world, system, emerge portage, emerge gcc.

I merged successfully xfree.

The problem comes with the merge of Gnome2.0.2 or KDE3.0.4.
For KDE the problem is with the Qt compilation.

The symptom is the same for both compilations : segmentation fault !

May I re-write that I've yet compiled successfully the kernel, gcc, xfree ?

My configuration is : Athlon XP1400, MSI K7T266Pro2, 512 Mb of DDR-SDRAM PC2100, WD 40Go HD, ATI Radeon graphical card.

Please help !
I've read the documentation (the 2 about Portage, the last english installation documentation, graphical desktop on Gentoo),
I've made some searches in the forum and the last threads in the mailing lists archives, but without success.
(I found in some mail archives that re-compiling gcc (3.2-rx) could help, so I did it, but always the same shit at the end.)

Thanks in advance,
