i just installed gentoo, and did an "emerge gnome". X itself works fine (with twm), but trying to start gnome fails. it dumps me back in bash, with: /usr/libexec/gnome_segv: error while loading shared libraries:=20 libesd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: Error 23 thing is, i have esound installed, the libraries are in /usr/lib, which=20 i also put in /etc/ld.so.conf, ive run ldconfig, and there is indeed a link from libesd.so.0 to the actual file. does this have something to do with the fact that i dont want or need=20 sound, thus it isnt configured, and as a matter of fact i dont even=20 have a sound card? if so, how can i get gnome to not bother with esound?
