emerge fails: make disappeared?

Hello,

I don't know what I have done, but several things in /usr/bin have=20
disappeared.=20

make has also disappeared!? what should I do to get portage working again,=
=20
since all ebuilds will fail with 'make not found'?

If I look at /usr/bin/ with konqueror make is not there.
If I type ls /usr/bin make is there.

same goes for 'less'.

Whats going on? Any ideas?

I'm using gentoo 1.4-rc1, vanilla kernel, and a reiserfs root partition.
