xf86config problem...

Hello,
I'm trying to set up my xf86config file for gnome, but I can't seem =
to get the resolution set no matter what I try. I have had the settings =
done correctly before, so I know that my monitor/vid card can handle =
them, but now all I am able to get is screens that are signifigantly =
larger then my monitor (and I have to scroll them) or I get screens that =
are very small. I have tried all kinds of settings from 640x480 up to =
1600x1200, and none of them fit my screen.
Can anyone offer some insight as to how they configured they're =
file? I'd love to have the resolution at 1024x768, at 24bit like i've =
had it before, but I just can't seem to get it to work now. Thanks for =
any help!
In case it helps, I have a sony trinitron multiscan 17se II montior, =
and a Geforce 2 TI 64mb vid card.=20
