Hi,

IMHO Linux has very good caching mechanism, so there is no need of
ramdisks (er, ramfs or tmpfs) in most situations.

On the contrary, Solaris is using tmpfs for /tmp and /var/run. I really
like this idea, so after Gentoo install I always add

none	/tmp	tmpfs	size=64M,mode=1777	0 0

to my fstab. Your preferences may differ.

/Ervin
