kernel compilation problem under powerbook G4 : ln error

Hi list !
this is my first message ! so hy everybody ;-)

i'm trying to install gentoo on my powerbook 800MHz.
i followed the handbook until kernel compilation !

whatever the config i use, I always get the same error, somewhere 
during the compilation ...
ln : when making several links, the last one must be a directory

i went to #gentoo-ppc irc channel to try to sort it out, but nobody 
could figure out what was the problem.

i started the installation with a livecd.
once chrooted, i emerged gentoo-dev-sources
the resulting linux installed was 2-6-10

did anybody already see this problem or has an idea how to fix it ??
