Apple studio display

Heloo all,


I'm trying to install gentoo (2005.0) on a powermac G4 with an Apple studio display (DVA connection).  After booting from cd and choosing my kernel (G4 dofirewire) I get mltiple column gibberish.  there is no problem when I connect to an analog CRT.  any sugestion on geting prober configuration with the installcd and my studio display.  I'm new to gentoo on mac..
