Gday all,

In the past few days I have been working on a Gentoo Stage 4 build.

Its very much in testing right now, but here it is what will be included
on the CD/DVD (Maybe).

1) Ldap server
 - Either a slave, or forwarding to another server

2) Ftp server
 - Pro FTPD authenticating to the local ldap

3) SMB server
 - Samba, authenticating to the local LDAP

4) Bind Server
 - Using the bind/ldap interface

5) Postfix Server
 - Interfacing with LDAP for users and other settings.

6) Squid Server
 - using mod_ldap to authenticate users.

7) SSH server
 - Also authing to the LDAP server.

8) DHCP server with many of the above information encoded into the
advanced "options" so that applications that can use this information
will.

The initial install process does not require a head (Although it can
still be done ), but I would like to have the install start ssh with a
root password set to the MAC of the first ethernet card.

The IP will either be DHCP assigned, or fallback to a 192 address in
case no DHCP server can be found. (Perhaps maybe an app to find the
computer that is being setup... shouldnt be too hard to write )

It may be possible to do the install via a serial console for those who
are interested in this method and if possible this will included on the
LiveCD version of the GSP.

The wiki's documentation will be included on the CD/DVD, for each of the
services that can be configured.

All these services with a basic config, either with example config files
(Pointed at the demo LDAP setup) or some kind of shell script to
configure each one of the services with the local settings.

The above setup will be a considerable task and will require
considerable testing before it is released to the general public.

I'd like to hear thoughts on this matter, positive critism please.

Wade Mealing.
