It transpires that I was doing something wrong: specifying the wrong PARTUUID. As usual, the fault lay between the screen and the keyboard. :) Now that I've fixed that, it works well. I tried rEFInd, but it's too gaudy for me. I dare say I could tone it down a bit by tweaking its config, and I may come back to that later. -- Regards, Peter.
