I have basically the same packages installed since if my main rig broke for some reason I could switch to the old rig fairly quickly. I also checked, nothing in /etc/portage files about ruby either. On either system. Weird that one rig is hit while another is not. I'd normally think the tree was in a bad state but I synced, got all the errors, waited a little over a day and synced again. I couldn't tell any difference in the reported conflicts in the emerge output. Weird. Dale :-) :-)
